Finishline Peformance in Naperville stocks some of their products.
There are a lot better, longer lasting and whole heck of a lot cheaper products out there imo.

Not really. It all depends on what part of the car you are using it for and what kind of car, paint etc... I use many different products for sealent, wax, clay bar, trim dressing, tire shine, apc cleaners and interior cleaners.

What is a comparable product to their tire and trim drssing? I think it is called VTR. It dries and does not fly off. They have an arosol dress too foe hard to reach places. Any over the counter products for that? They have an wheel attachment that cleans the inside of the wheel and attaches to a drill. Any ideas for that one?

I looked on Adams website thay list dealers but none of them have a full line of Adams products. I called....

I think he was meaning that there isn't really one single company that has the best in all areas, and also, different starting conditions can require different products to get the desired results.


I use some Adam's products, and some Meguar's, at this point.

There are a few areas-

Interior - heavy cleaning, either Adam's APC or Diluted Simple Green
Interior - normall cleaning/protectant - Meguiar's Quick interior detailer
Interior - Leather protectant... looking for a new product. Did not care for Adam's Leather and Interior product... had a tendancy to be streaky.
Glass - I have some Adam's glass cleaner, it's quite good... but if you can find Stoner's Invisible Glass, it's very good also.
Exterior - wheel cleaner - Adam's APC or diluted Simple Green or Castrol Super Clean
Exterior - Tires - cleaner - Westley's Bleche White (even on blackwalls)
Exterior - Tires - protectant- Adam's VRT is nice. The other option that I use is Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel. It doesn't fling off of the tires, and it stays looking good for days, and it's not as sticky as most silicone dressings. It comes with a foam applicator.

Exterior - Quick Detailer - I've used Meguiars and Adam's, and a private label stuff from my detailer. The Adam's seems to go farther than the Meguiar's, not sure if that is due to ingredients or sprayer difference.

Exterior - Paint cleaner - Meguiar's Ultimate compound is what I have and use.
Exterior - Wax - I have some Meguiar's NXT, seems OK
Exterior - Clay Bar - I have used the Meguiar's clay bar, and it worked fine, used it with Adam's quick detailer.
Exterior Polish/Glaze - Adam's Brilliant Glaze is nice... doesnt seem to go very far but is nice.


If you're looking for Adam's stuff locally, adam's website has a dealer locater. there are a few places around the area that carry it- but yeah check the daily special's at adam's website too.

Ok here are some things I use.
Wash- Duragloss 901 (can be purchased at carquest)
Clay- Pinnacle Ultra Poly (it's a light grade clay and lessons the chance of marring)
Clay Lube- Optimum No Rinse diluted to clay lube ratio
Tar Remover- Stoners Tarminator (O-Reilys)
Glass cleaner- Stoners invisible glass (O-Reilys, wal-mart etc..)
Trim Dressing, restorer, UV protectant- Ultima Trim and Tire Guard Plus. You wouldn't believe how many cowls that were faded to white that I've returned back to black and they are still going 6 months strong and black as the day I put it on. You can use it on your tires, but I think it's too expensive to use on customers tires so I usually just use something cheap because most of them wash of (except ultima trim and tire guard)
Tire, Rim and Engine cleaner- Meguaires APC+ 10-1 or Brown Royal
I use Menzerna polishes with Lake country pads
IRON X- rust and fallout remover
Sealent- Menzerna Power Lock
Wax- Collinite 845
Various Cobra Microfiber towels

Interior
Leather- Either Megs APC+(gotta do a test spot to make sure it doesn't pull the dye out of leather) or Wolfgang citrus leather cleaner.
Plastic and Vinyl- Megs apc+
Carpet and Upholstry cleaner- Folex. The best carpet cleaner and is very cheap and can be picked up at home depot or lowes.
Dash dressing-303 Aerospace.

Now you know most of my secrets.. lol

As far as adams products go I know some people personally that use them. They started out only using them and will not use anything else. I had someone help me with some really nasty cars and he used his adams products and I wasn't satisfied so I had to go back over everything with my own. Plus a lot of it is like $15-$20 for a small spray bottle of product. A lot of stuff I get costs a little less than that, can be diluted, does a better job of cleaning and lasts longer.

Toasty- You listed some pretty good products.
My only questions is why would you use a compound to clean the paint? Compound is supposed to be used to abrade the paint and remove clearcoat. Don't you have a ton of swirls when you are done?
I would probably use a dedicated paint cleaner that has chemicals designed for cleaning paint.

How do you apply your wax and your glaze?
Meguires NXT contains cleaning agents as well as fillers. It actually looks great on paint, but lasts a maximum of 3 weeks on a daily driver.
Glazes contain many fillers and that's why your car looks great right after you apply it. Almost all glazes last until the first few washes.
I would only apply a glaze right before a car show.
Now another thing is you can apply a wax on a sealent but not the other way around.
Normally you can go glaze, then wax but if you are using NXT, like I said it contains cleaning agents so it will remove the glaze.
Personally the best thing to do is clean the paint up well, by polishing to remove the swirls and then apply a good quality sealent or wax. The ones I listed are very strong and claim to last about 6 months. Collinite you can get locally.
Here is an example I did on a 4th gen for paint prep. I did not wax it in these shots.
