New caulk on 2011's

  • New caulk on 2011's

    As i was working on a Camaro today i notice something a little different than the 2010's i have worked on in the past. GM has now applied numerous beads of caulk in the strut towers. Daily driven cars could definitely appreciate this as you will notice the elements of the weather, salt, etc. will seep through these seems. Check out this pic i snapped.

      Pete, Quote me a price to Caulk mine if it is not already done, I want the protection, seriously, can you do it as neat? If they did it on the new ones, they must see that their is a problem. Lets get a group rate going on this issue

          I really is more of a concern to cars that are daily driven but at the same time is not a bad idea. I am surprised GM has not made this a campaign. May be it is and we don't even know it. This way GM can pay for it.

            my early build 2011 (7/20) does NOT have this. We will have to ask Al Oppenheiser when this went into effect

                rumor was that later 2011 coupes and verts are drilled for the strut tower brace that is used on the vert. wonder if that is part of the reason? can't see that caulk/sealant adding to structural rigidity.
