That is what winning the camaro has cost me in taxes. This is probably why most sell the vehicle, to pay the taxes.

No, I'm fine. I have really nice parents who have loaned me the money I've needed to make the tax payments. My point is that most people probably don't have over ten grand just sitting around to make tax payments on a car that they've won.

When I first won the car, I did some research and found out that most experts on the subject say don't take the car, take the equivalent cash payment. In my case, the cash payment was peanuts. Plus, this car isn't your regular run of the mill car!

I don't think any of us are going to feel for you. We all paid at least double that, plus you have a kick ass car! I think you made the right choice.

Whoa, it's not like you won a car. It's "you won half a car, now pay" ha. Oh well, still a cool car.

I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm happy to pay the taxes. I just wanted you all to know it's not totally free! I was looking to buy a camaro before I got this one. Good thing I waited.

                  Meant to be

Honestly, i entered to win the new, but not original Blackhawks Camaro. Truth is though, i'd take the cash, but that's only because I already have one.

It's because you are taxed at a higher bracket when you win something. I belive you pay almost a 1/3 of the price of the vehicle. Don't quote me on that percentage though, but it is quite a bit.

You have to claim the value of the vehicle as income on your taxes. That can put you into a higher tax bracket.
