  • Car still not running correctly ......6 months later

    Hey guys,

I have not been on here in a long time. I have been really busy with work.

My car is still not working. (I posted about it a long time ago)
It has not completed died out again, they replaced the fuel pump module.
It still stalls and sputters! Its intermittent so they want the car to do it long enough to be able to get a code.
It has been to the dealer 6 times and they are giving me the run around!
The car has stayed with them for weeks at a time. I finally said enough when they said their mechanic needs to take it home for the weekend.

I contacted GM directly and they were no help!

I have been looking for a good lawyer that deals with lemon law or consumer warranty but I can't find a good local attorney.

    Any advise?

Do u have a automatic ? Mine does not run right and all the auto's do that . It's the cyclinder displacement they have them maped with very little fuel so they can get the high mile per gallon.

From an Engineering standpoint, are they going to replace the parts of the engine damaged by prolonged stalling??? This is unacceptable in my book. They want you to allow your engine to become damaged enough to where it throws a code?? I am no lawyer, but in my book, that is bulls*#t. What dealership have you been dealing with??

Mine doesn't do this at all.....If it did I would be on top of the service managers chest.......

How far are you from Libertyville Chevy? See Eric....

Did you get in touch with anyone with the number I gave you?

Just picked it up from the dealer. They are now telling me that it is being caused by my intake. They want me to put stock back on before they "test" it again. This is beyond ridiculous. Especially because they acknowledge the issue started prior to me putting the intake on.
I’m even thinking of trading it in.

Is it that much of a pain to put the stock intake back on? Seems to be the path of least resistance.

Did you call the person that orange5thgen passed on the info for?

Well I can tell you to contact K & N and explain the problem to them... They will back you up. Put the stock one back on and bring to Libertyville and let them check it out. What codes did the dealer say it was showing? The next step is provide the documentation to the rep and show that the problem has not been addressed.

I am going to put it back on. The info that was passed on, I have been working with them for about 2 months.

I have a feeling that after I replace the intake they will say the same about the exhaust.

Do you have headers and exhaust? Or just axle back?

OK just found this from a GM tech on another forum. worth a try...

#PI0284: MIL Illuminated, DTC P0300 and/or P1380 Set, Without Stored Misfire Data and Driveability Issues (Reprogram ECM Using SPS and TIS2WEB) - (Nov 1, 2010)

                              Subject:

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated, DTC P0300 and/or DTC P1380 Set, Without Stored Misfire Data and Driveability Issues (Reprogram Engine Control Module (ECM) Using SPS and TIS2WEB)

                              Models:

                              2010 Chevrolet Camaro

                              Equipped with Engine RPO LLT

                              --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following information may be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in this PI.

                              Condition/Concern

Some customers may comment that the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is illuminated.

The technician may observe on a scan tool DTC P0300 and/or DTC P1380 set as Current or in History, without stored misfire data and any accompanying driveability issues.

This condition may be caused by an anomaly in the engine control module (ECM) software.

                              Recommendation/Instructions

Important: DO NOT replace the ECM for the above condition.

A revised ECM calibration has been released to address this condition. Reprogram the ECM using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibration available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS procedures in SI.

When using a multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.

Note: Stable battery voltage is critical during programming.

During programming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 volts. Only use the approved Midtronics® PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) or equivalent during programming.

                              .................................................. ..........................

The others are misfires that are related to that one most likely. No other bulletins just repair info, but it sounds electrical when I read through some.

                              Bill
