Any dealers have a REAL service department?

It is to my understanding that you can take your car to any dealer for warranty work... with that said...
I know most dealers just want to move cars in and out and half ass any warranty work they can (or at least thats my experience with 3 previous cars/dealers)

my car is blowing blue smoke on start up and im comming up short when i change the oil.
SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG

i dont feel like bringing it to my dealer, picking it up 3 days later and bringing it right back the next day over and over and over

anyone know of a dealer that will actually investigate this problem and fix it?
they're getting paid no matter what so i dont see what the big deal is but i know it makes them look good when they're moving cars in and out quickly

seems like the temps are getting into the 40s more often so im hoping i can get her out of storage april 1st or so

any help would be great, or even some hard facts or info to show my dealer to show them im not messing around and im not retarded (only sometimes haha)

Dont wanna throw anyone under the bus but ones a chevy dealer here on the southside, one was the dodge dealer in the south suburbs when i had the challenger, and a ford here on the southside too...(eh hem... *spiderman* hint hint) just seems like some, not all, just half ass work, dont keep you updated, dont explain anything, or even call you when your car is done! i'm definitely going to contact those guys at the two dealerships mentioned and see if they cant lend a hand with this situation.

The problem may be that you are going to inner city dealerships instead of dealerships in the suburbs. I know from my personal experience that I have had better luck with dealers out in the suburbs than the city.

Do you drive the car hard? I'd check the intake manifold and get yourself a catch can. These cars love to ingest oil.

well of course every now and then my foot finds the floor but im not going around town shifting threw the gears at 5K haha
im actually taking pretty good care of this car, unlike the challenger i had, i feel sorry for who ever bought that thing lol

what would i be looking for on the manifold? and yes i plan on getting the catch can

Might want to try some of the dealers which also have a body shop -- they tend to be the better-equipped ones... Of course, YMMV. Stasek in Wheeling is one-such -- I've had the best overall experience there of all the Chevy service shops over the years... NONE of them are perfect.

If you have the L99 there was a service bulletin about that issue. It didn't apply though to the LS3 or LLT, but I think some of us think its more wide spread of an issue.

Libertyville Chevy, Kevin Paddock is one of GM high ranked (#3 in the nation)corvette mechanic's, They have a performance shop, he has done a tone of camaro's with upgrades or regular stuff. He also wont let you spend your money on something you dont need, I know this from years of working with him on my corvettes.

I had a similar problem when I first got my car (L99), except mine was blowing white smoke. I took it in, and (as best as I can remember them explaining to me) they found the issue to be with the lifters for the cylinders that are supposed to close during the cylinder shutdown function (I think that's called VVT). I'd have to check the paperwork again, but I'm pretty sure they told me they used LS3 lifters to correct it. Anyway, that fixed the problem, so I'd look into that. I went to Jennings Chevy in Glenview. Hope that helps
