  • I want to hear your Header/Exhaust combos - Gurnee

    Hi All

I live near Gurnee and would like to hear some different header/exhaust combos. I think I'm going to place an order for this stuff in Spring or Summer, and want to start getting an idea of what I'd like to buy. I want something loud when I want it to be loud but without much drone (otherwise wifey will complain). I'm sure you know what I'm getting at. So, if there's anyone around this area that would be willing to meet up, let me know! Or if there's a few people, maybe we could meet up for lunch or something. Let me know. Thanks.

The only way you are going to eliminate drone is to use J pipes. The car is going to be loud no matter what you do. Just install J pipes and cut outs. LOL, then you can be loud whenever you want.

When the weather gets a bit nicer, just come out to one of our events, and I'm sure you'll be able to hear all the exhaust notes at once!

I only have SLP LoudMouth II on the car at the moment --- but, after March 26th, I can let you hear what Doug Thorley LTs, HiFlo Cats, Stock LS3 Resonator/MidPipe with SLP LMIIs sound like with a Magnacharger+CogDrive.

I agree with the above point -- just come out to one of our meets.. You'll have many different combos to listen to.

That was my original plan. But, I noticed there aren't any meets in the next month or two. And, I'm anxious........haha. And I happened to see the Chicago Auto Show meet a bit late. Are there any meets planned for March or April?

If you are worried about drone the only way to get drone free is Corsa. They guarantee it. I have Kooks LT, High flow cat and Corsa and it is quiet while cruising but nice and loud at WOT.

If you want to listen to some sound clips check out this link. Realize though that soundclips don't always do the exhaust justice but they my help you at least narrow your choices down to a few to listen to in person.

Also, don't just go by the advertised price on a website. If you call them you can usually get an even better price. I went through Maryland Speed for my LT's and Cats and got one hell of a deal with free shipping but had to call Brandon to get it. I went through a dealership for my Corsa exhaust and talked them down about 300 bones.

            T.
The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

Once I get my car back at the end of March -- I'd be more than happy to meet you in the middle somewhere between Chicago/Gurnee and you can hear mine..

I'd say videos, but honestly, most of the vids don't capture the correct sound.

                I have a 2SS/RS

Yeah, clips don't really do justice. That's why I want to hear some in person. Thanks for the responses!
