3 charged in auto show vandalism spree - Chicago Sun-Times
Minor vandalism is an auto show hazard, but what happened Wednesday night may be a first, as three southwest suburban men did about $30,000 damage to seven vehicles at the Chicago Auto Show because they were angry at U.S. jobs going overseas.

The three suspects, all of Orland Park -- were arrested at 10 p.m. at the annual show at McCormick Place, Chicago police said.

They were charged with one felony count each of criminal damage to property for allegedly doing thousands of dollars in damage to the interior of the seven 2011 Toyota vehicles, police said.

The three were caught in a blue Toyota Camry, damaging the interior with razor knives and flathead screwdrivers, according to a police report. A security camera caught footage of them inside the car.

Besides the Camry, a RAV4, a Prius, a Land Cruiser, two Tundras and a Lexus ES350 were damaged, the latter having its back seat punctured and a turn indicator broken, according to the report.

The men allegedly told police they were angry about American jobs going overseas.
Hey Tim, do you think toyota put security cams in the cars because of last year????

A few years back my gf and I were sitting inside of one of those personal-use International trucks (you know the giant ones that make hummers look like compact cars?) Anyway, I open up the armrest compartment to see how deep it goes, and what do you know? There was a set of keys! Well I couldn't resist the urge, I stuck the keys in the ignition and turned them one click to see if they were live keys. Yep, they were. If I didn't fear getting arrested, I'd have driven it around the auto show a bit

I guess things have gotten a little more secure since those days :P

Well, at least no Camaros were harmed in the making of this Auto Show.

Hell, I get irritated hearing some people in HR or Management bragging about sending IT jobs overseas.. I even heard someone at lunch the other day having a little lunch meeting talking about it.. That doesn't mean I'm going to go on a rampage through the Data Center or punch that guy in the kidneys... -- Though, I have really wanted to try and create a severe weather condition in a controlled Data Center.. You've got all the basic controls to do it.
