  • Any interest in a 3D Chocolate Camaro?

Kim and I were in Old Towne (Chicago) this afternoon in the chocolate shop there and I noticed a sign they have stating they can make any mold for a one time fee of 350.00. I talked to one of the employees there and asked if they could do one of a 2010 Camaro. The guy there didn't see why not as they have a molding company do it for them and showed me some that were made from just pictures. Since it's a car, they'd probably want something tangible like a model car, etc.

Anyways, I took some pictures of the chocolate 3D cars they have now, a picture, the mold, and the chocolate bar they had in stock, and some of the colors they can do.

Don't know if anyone has an interest in it, but I thought it was kinda neat. They can do white chocolate + color, so they should be able to get most of our colors close. They can only make the car in 1 overall color though (no two tones, stripes, etc.), but painting the wheels and adding stripes etc. with colored chocolate and a brush wouldn't be too hard at home. Plenty of craft stores sell colored chocolate and brushes.

I can get more information if there's any real interest in this. I'm sure they would even make a C5G mold as well.

Cool idea, the price of the initial mold is a bit high though.

It's only that one time fee and if enough people went in on it, it would reduce the cost.

After that, you only pay for the amount of chocolate (per weight) that it takes to fill the mold. They state somewhere between 14.99-25.00 per car.

I figured with people spending thousands of dollars to make the underside of their hood pretty, buying color coordinated everything and even little toys for their cars, that this would be a drop in the bucket. Who knows, maybe it would even take off and Camaro people everywhere would start wanting to order them.. We could start a cool trend right here in our own backyard (so to speak)
