All streets were passable here. Rt. 14 was down to two lanes in some spots, but, mostly all four were at least flat. Me and mostly 4WD's out there. LOL

5 foot snow drift in my driveway that I cleared last night and another 2 footer cleared this morning. I haven't seen a snow plow in my neighborhood since 10:30 last night when he got stuck! I got pix as I was laughing my ass off. Found out today that my neighbor went out to help dig him out.

I have my driveway cleared but my street and neighborhood streets are impassable. Doesn't look like I am going anywhere for a while.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

I like the double decker snow blower idea, it took me 2 to 3 passes to clear out some drifts, and the end of the driveway was crazy after mr. snow plow came thru. I am sure he was laughing his ass off thinking about the whole neighborhood would need to dig out from 3 to 4 feet after he pushed all the snow off the street.
Well, driving it tomorrow, you might get that V8 sooner than later. Hopefully they will figure out what is going on with it. Keep us updated. Be careful tomorrow.

I am certainly glad I don't live in the city on any of those 'side' streets that aren't plowed yet, and aren't likely to be anytime soon. I ventured out to get some dinner, the roads out of the residential areas were a little tight, but passable. the major roads were pretty clear.

I've been watching the footage of LSD... that's NUTS... especially the poor guy that apparently left the door of his new Chevy truck OPEN (I suppose it could be as old as an 07, but still) the entire cab inside is a big snow drift!

Snow Plows haven't done squat to clear off most turn lanes off Rand Rd. (Rt. 12)...

probably like that all over, it is down here. They're going to be going full steam ahead all night, I think, trying to get as much moved before the cold sets in

Hard to see but it took my neighbor and the driver about an hour to dig this truck out.

Does anybody know why it's taking so long for streets to be fully cleared for the most part? There are several major 4 lane roads around me that still have 2-lane sections. A lot of intersections are still a huge mess and to be honest, most have such huge snow piles that you can't see any oncoming cross traffic! I suppose they're going to have to move some snow in dump trucks and push some further off the road with special side plows, but I really don't see any changes. So I am wondering what's the reason?

I really appreciate all the hard work the plow drivers have already done and I'm not complaining, but I am just curious why they aren't finishing the last bit. Is it too cold? Are they waiting for it to snow again this weekend? Are villages trying to save money and not giving workers overtime? Is there more snow than the plows are capable of moving?

Snow plow drivers need to sleep and there aren't many of them. I think if everyone stayed off the streets for two days, it would have been done already though. Countless times have I seen plows fighting traffic. I know they were working late into the night by my community clearing the extra lanes.

I'd venture to guess that they will have to remove snow with end loaders and dump trucks. there may be too much for regular plows. ...couple that with traffic, and it becomes a nightmare.

It must depend on where you are. Up here in McHenry and Kane county, everything was pretty much down to pavement as of yesterday.

Schaumburg had horrendous snow pile up in intersections and on side lanes still. Around Deer park on Rand Rd it was down to 2 lanes, one car I saw swerve violently into another lane because they didn't see the huge snow obstruction ahead... Back roads actually seem to be faring better than main roads in the Barrington area. But the main problem is as soon as you intersect with a main road you are completely blinded by the huge snow piles at the intersections. I've completely had to change my driving route because I can't see in half of the major intersections. I tried my normal route again this morning and I was still blind @ intersections. most roads are down to pavement though except in intersections and on 2nd and 3rd lanes. I'm just really surprised how bad Schaumburg was last night. There were a couple intersections that didn't feel plowed at all and my car actually scraped the snow with my under-body.
