  • Multiple failed burnouts trying to show off...

So... the gf and I were in the SS yesterday, midday on Belmont headed west just before California... It's a one lane part that people seem to treat as a two lane when cars aren't parked all over... So, like Belmont usually is at that time, it's bumper to bumper with slow moving lanes because of the 6-way coming up at Belmont/Cali/Elston that reminds me of the opening to Office Space..

Anyways, I'm starting, stopping, starting, stopping (all in first gear) and listening to my exhaust up and down and enjoying the sounds of it.. Then I hear it... The sound of stupidity and total ineptitude..

A white older Tahoe is behind me and I hear him rev up.. I didn't think much about it at first with all the traffic.. just figured someone was doing the "last minute lane change because I'm a d-bag and didn't want to merge sooner because I feel the need to pass everyone and force my way back in" move.

Anyways, I hear it again... then again and more aggressive.. now he's a little in front of me and doing it even more.. This time I see the SUV stop and I hear the exhaust again, but it's different.. the suspension is lifting up hard and he's not moving (uh oh.. looks like someone's trying to lay some rubber).. Well, after about 5-8 seconds of suspension strain, engine noise and obvious strain, I see 0.. No tire movement.. nothing..

I totally LOL'd at him, looked over at the GF and started to point out the issue and what he's doing wrong.. That straight up suspension torque is a dead giveaway.. He does this two more times each with the same result (0 tire spin) but each time letting the engine go longer and pushing it harder..

Finally the dude gets some piddly little tire spin with almost no noise and a little bit of smoke and then drives off... I can see people behind me looking, talking amongst themselves and pointing at me and then pointing at him and laughing..

The kid looks like he was in his late teens or early 20s... I couldn't help but laugh and throw a small rev at him.. and then get in the turning lane before I hopped on California...

    Sheesh...
