  • WTB: Solid or ZL1 motor mounts

So i ripped one of my motor mounts right out. It's time for an upgrade. So i was curious if anyone on here had a set of Solid motor mounts or take of ZL1 mounts they arent using. I really think i should go with solid, but open to either one as they are an improvements over my current setup.

I do not and I was advised against the solid or semi solid ones on a car that you drive regularly.

The ZL1 mounts should suffice but PFADT also makes a nice mount (though, you will increase cabin noise and vibration). I was looking at, and almost puled the trigger on, a set of the PFADT mounts.

Yeah, thats why i was thinking of the ZL1. I was talking to heather and she recommended that.

I was also looking at the PFADT ones that they say are "solid" but they still have a poly insert.

My car is already very noisey inside with my rear seat delete and my solid trans mount that i have. So i am used to it already. Just dont want my motor able to hit my firewall anymore.

My not-fully-informed vote would go for the ZL1 mounts as well and when I was seriously looking, that simply wasn't an option (as it wasn't in public hands yet).

Correct, PFADTs are a semi-solid for the reason you listed and they were the ones that cautioned me on the increased noise -- it was the same with my truly solid IRS cradle mounts.

How bad were the cradle mounts for you? didnt you go solid on those?

Yes. I went with the solid orange ones.. Honestly, it wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. You can hear the IRS clunking around back there much easier (along with the gears). I honestly can't say that it really did anything for me because I didn't do road coursing until I had the other PFADT/Pedders stuff installed and it went in with the headers, blower, intake, etc.

Gotcha, I really dont mind the noise of it at all. I used to drive around in hondas and DSM's with barely any interior at all... with solid mounts everywhere haha.

GM parts direct doesn't seem to have bad pricing on ZL1 motor mounts. However they have a supercharged mount and non supercharged mount. even tho i searched ZL1 specific.
