  • WTB - Stock SS mufflers

Looking for a set of OEM mufflers. I don't need tips or the pipes. Just the muffler boxes.

Thanks Syck. I had this idea the other day to incorporate the shape of the stock cans to gain back the aerodynamics that GM designed into them for the rear end. Since I did the belly pan and hood, I figured what the heck. Guys are willing to do crazy things to cut a tenth off 1/4 mile times. Can't hurt to keep the rear diffuser from acting like a parachute.

Not sure if I'll pursue this at the moment since tonight I got an offer to get sponsorship and assistance for doing track events. Suspension is going under the knife once again with some free parts.

Why don't you try changing up that rear diffuser, vent it and cut down on the drag, I always thought when I looked at that thing from the underside that it's got to have a real effect on drag also. Would be curious if someone blocked off the inside edge and closed it up except for around the tailpipes or vents on the whole thing what would happen

The intent of the cans was to keep air blowing past the rear, not allow it to go up and catch behind the diffuser. Even if you were box it off and not have something in place keep it out of the underside, you'll create unwanted turbulence. Even the stock design isn't perfect in that respect, after all it is a street car. My attempts at all this aero stuff was to prove that on a track it isn't always horsepower than wins the race. I invested a lot of time and some money on the belly pan design. Hopefully I'll see the benefit in May for my first race. I'm getting a few days at the Autobahn for test and tune of the suspension before the race. I should know then how the hood and belly pan work together.
