^ Interesting but not surprising. What is unique is this seems to be the first Alpha platform convertible, as Cadillac does not seem to offer any...


Outstanding questions for me on the new infotainment system include:
1. When will wireless CarPlay be supported, and will it be a firmware update?
2. I will be damned if I have to visit a GM dealer to update the firmware/operating system and applications in the infotainment system when the car supports both LTE and WiFi! This needs to be over-the-air!

I hope so, but when we were talking to the engineers & designers they said there wasn't a convertible yet... Can't wait to see it if there is!

I was at the Tech Center Tour @ Dearborn Warren MI. back in 92 with the Lead Camaro Eng. He was talking about the soon to be released Convt. Camaro . My buddy asked about a Firebird Convt. He said NO we will not make a Firebird Convt. ONLY Camaro. The next day Jim Perkens Chevy CEO unveiled the 93 Camaro Convt. to the Camaro Group at the Hilton Hotel Award brunch. A month later OUT came the Firebird Convt. So some things never change.... lol JS... So a 16 Convt is in the work wait and see !!

I think the 2016 lineup for CamaroSix is what we've been told.

The 2017 model year will include a Convertible across all the engines.
We will have to wait until 2018 before we see a specialty version (e.g. ZL1, 1LE, Z28). But, you never know; maybe 2017 will have one too.

Guy from the tech center in the Z28 hot lap line told me that they are working on the next high power Camaro now. He started out calling it a ZL1 but backed off that and said .....or what ever they are going to call it. he thought it was going to be out in 2017 but didn't sound to certain.

It's good for car companies to slow-roll out various models and packages thereby keeping interest up over the years, but the waiting for the potential buyer is hard. i.e. buy now, or is the one I really want coming out in a couple years...
