winter tires and wheels

Well I guess my first "mod" is going to be wheels and tires for winter. I think I've chosen well, but I'm always willing to hear suggestions.

MSW Type 16 18x8 Titanium Mirror finish
Goodyear Ultra Grip GW3 P225/60R18

I'm also going to have TPMS installed. A local tire shop was very helpful and answered all my questions.

The only problem I'll have is getting the original wheels & tires home! The shop is close, so maybe I'll push 'em one at a time.

Luckily on the V6, you have the 18" wheel option.
So you could run the base LS wheel during winter and be set!

I'll definitely post pics when I put them on. But I think the tire shop might be giving me some BS. He's trying to tell me the MSW in that finish isn't available in 18". So I'll call the vendor tomorrow and confirm because they're showing it in 18".

Confirmed with the vendor that they have the MSW in Titanium, so I bought 4 with tires and TPMS, with tires installed and balanced. I also ordered a spare rim (just in case). They should be here next week.


UPDATE: Amazing, I placed the order yesterday, and the tires & wheels arrived this morning. Looks like I'll get the them put on this weekend.

i dont know what you paid for them but tirerack.com has good deals on some.
now did i hear that u can not use any 18" wheel on the SS ? they show on the site a few that will fit im buying some in about 3 weeks and need 18" to get the snow and ice tire.

18s are tough for the SS because many 18s won't clear the brakes.

18" C6 Z06 wheels will clear* the rear calipers, which are larger, so they ought to clear the fronts as well.

* - they clear, but the e-brake cable needs to be tied away for clearance, so maybe not a great solution for everyday driving.
