Smaller OD for better gearing? What are those? 14's?

They look like 17 or 18" Z06 rims. They just look super dinky because of the massive wheel wells. Get some sidewall on there and let 'er fly!

18", they look tiny on this car. Smaller rim=less weight and more sidewall for the track. Plus 18" DR's are cheaper than 20". Taller gearing is an advantageous byproduct. The tire on the rim in the pic is a 295/35 and the side wall is slashed so there's no air. I didn't drop the car all the way down because of that. The DR I'm looking at will be a 305/45 so there will be a lot more sidewall.

wow my 18's don't look that small!

bigger sidewall somehow means better traction?

just humor me! never did anything beyond frontage roads.

Taller side wall = more flex. More flex = better traction. The smaller the sidewall the stiffer it is and that makes it easier to spin. Your 18" look bigger because the spokes go all the way to the wheel flange and you have a 55 side wall.

Look at the sidewall in this pic

So they clear out back, would they clear fronts if one so desired? (winter wheels) ?

Cool. That's what I thought, but wanted to be sure.

Would also like to see the front on there. Will the different ratio's front and rear throw the codes on the dash? I thought anything over .7% would set off the stabilitrack or something?

The key thing to that is the height of the wheel/tire combo.

If Dan is planning on running 305/45/18 it will match the OEM height ( 28.6" ) damn near dead nuts.

Looks like 18 x 9.5 C6 front wheel will work....now, time to find a set

The wheels are 18 x 10.5" that I picked up used for $125 for the pair. They are not GM wheels so I wasn't sure if they would fit but for the price I was sure I could sell them if they didn't. Well they fit with no issues. I wouldn't recommend these for winter wheels because they are 10.5" wide. They should clear the front as well since the rear rotors are larger than the front. I'm deciding on MT or the new Nitto NT05R drag radials. C5 Z06 rear or C6 Z06 front wheels will work.

Just a word of caution...In my 11 second 4th gen, I opted for the Nittos, despite the fact the MTs stick way better.

Simply because I knew the MTs would kill the stock 10 bolt....something to consider given the weak axles in the 5th gen. I've heard even at stock power levels half shafts are breaking..I'm going to tread on the Nittos real cautious like after I put the cam in mine.

On the other hand...if you're planning on swapping in better halfshafts, run the MTs! Although, I've also heard that once the driveshaft weaklink is gone, the next weak link is the rear end.

                              It never ends............
