  • Can't get any worse? oh yes it can

Last year I had a trans cooler installed by Nickey. One of the fittings basically "fell off". Trans fluid everywhere. Had to pay $$ out of my own pocket to have a trans shop fix that mess.

Well...just now...the same hose just came off again. I now see what a piss poor job the trans shop did. They did not use a fitting. They used hose clamps. Well that just came apart on the highway. Stuck now on the 294 shoulder...waiting for a tow truck.

I am seriously pissed off now. Enough of this B.S.

Wish I could chime in here more often with some positive news...I just don't have any. This build has been a nightmare.

Sorry to hear that you have an issue with your Camaro. Trans pressure in today's car are much higher than in the past, like on my 74 Camaro. Clamps would work back in the day , and as you well know not now. A new trans hose would be the way to go first. OEM, Opt. 2 would be to have a NAPA Store make a new line with new fittings. These are made using a high pressure crimped on tool. and new fittings. and would be made at the Store. Opt 3 "backup plan" would be to have NAPA install a NEW fitting on the old line, but use it until you find a new line. Best of luck. Hope to meet up at our next function like May 16 Earlville.

Dang Mike, I've never encountered anyone having as much trouble as you have buddy. Don't know what to say to make you feel better. Keep pushing forward and hopefully these setbacks will end soon.

Someone tell Jeremy that I can't make it out to see him tomorrow please lol. I don't have a car. I can't get a hold of him.

I emailed him but haven't heard back so I don't know if he got the message. I don't want him waiting for me if I can't be there to meet him.

                important question

So...on a car like mine...can hose clamps be used on trans lines? Yes or no, and why please. I need to know asap.

                Thanks

I think CAM74 nailed it. Hose Clamps as a temporary fix but I would want the fittings. I'm no mechanic though.
