  • Question when storing camaro

Storing my car for the winter for 4-5 months tops. Will be in an unheated garage. Already had my oil changed and everything checked. Question is should I remove the battery. I was gona use a trickle charger but since the battery is in the trunk how would i be able to run the wire to outlet closing the lid on the wire? And will removing teh battery for that long would it mess up teh computers? thanks

Also i found out i need two new rear tires in the spring car has 14k miles on them? Is that the life span on PirelliP zeros?

I leave the battery in but I don't close the trunk. I just lower the lid but not fully shut it. The light goes out in about 10 minutes. That way I don't pinch the extension cord. I also put it on jack stands and remove all the wheels. Removing the battery isn't necessary IMHO. I've got 20,500 on my Pirellis and will be replacing them next spring.

jack stands are not necessarily the best thing to do. For the frame it would be better if you found some one inch thick rubber mats and have a heated garage. You can also put the trickle charger on the posts in the engine compartment and leave your hood cracked open a little bit. No need to take the battery out. Start the car every month and let in run or 20 minutes, even roll it in and out of the garage on your driveway would be great too!
As far as the tires are concerned, the Pirellis may give you a sound and ride you don't like after 16 k on them. I have tended to replace mine at 16. But I am particular.

Yep ! I usually pump mine out to a quarter tank or less so I can fill it with fresh gas in the spring?

Now can we stop talking about this, I am getting depressed already !

Bill. I've also heard it's better to put away with a full tank with some stabil or sea foam so moisture doesn't build up in the tank

I could see that approach especially if you are going to have alot of up and downs in temp in ur garage ! My garage is kept at a constant temperature 58. if you intend to do any inside car shows over the winter months ou have to have less then a quarter tank in the car so keep that in mind.

                Question when storing camaro

Took my car down to our second home south of Carbondale last weekend to store after Thanksgiving for upcoming winter season. Planning on getting four, two foot sections of utility carpet runners cut at big box store to place under tires. Open box of baking soda on front floor and Sta-Bil in the tank.

Also planning on attending last event in DD.

This would be my first home, not second. Nice looking home!

Thanks guys! It will become our first home in a couple years when I retire. Lots of great things to do down there. We are right in the middle of the Shawnee National Forest and have 13 wineries within 15 miles.

Would be a great stopover during a cruise to Memphis......

                      We love company.

                            Storage

I use a Battery Tender with the wires permanently installed on battery. I bought the 25 foot extension cabel and where it comes out of the trunk I put the cable through a piece of pipe insulation foam so the wire can not get pinched. For the tires I use Flatstoppers and have had no flat spotting.
