Since the old-timers should have been due, or, are coming due...

I'm hearing that some cars are failing due to being able to tell that sensors are disabled/bypassed via an ODBII scan. I thought it was mostly Fords, but, I heard someone mention GM, too.

    Can anyone confirm?

Yes you will fail if the sensors are "disabled".

The trick is you need to enable the sensors, but make it so they don't trigger a CEL.

Oh, so, that's common? May be a non-issue then.

Very common. Unless requested differently, Tuners will sometimes disable the rear o2's because it's quick and easy. As well as other emmisions sensors that are un needed. It takes more time to "trick" the computers to pass. I will be taking emmisions this month in my camaro. Will be quick and painless

So, are you saying that tuners usually disable, which can be seen?

Correct. When you turn off or disable the sensors or systems. They will not ever go into "ready" status. To pass emmisions you need your emmissions systems to show as being ready with no faults.

So when you turn off rear o2's. it just doesn't ready up causing you not to fail. But you will be rejected

Sounds like anyone with headers and a tune is hosed, then.

Not at all, there is a way to keep them on but make them not register a CEL. It takes some time though to set it up that way. So tuners skip it and do it the easy way.

I have no cats on my car and will pass no problem. Just gotta take the time to tweak the settings

I had problems passing emissions, did a few driving cycles, reloaded the tune and nothing worked. You can register it with the State as a show/race car, this way it avoids having to take the emissions test.

Tony if you need me to, I can tune your car if you need to pass emissions. I tuned a girl that Jeremy referred to me that was a v6 LLT with long tubes and she passed with no problems.

I passed no issues and you know my car. Only Ford vehicles have that issue
