So my brakes were squeaking for a little bit my brother not a brake expert but pretty knowledgable said the rotors are fine I just need pads. I just took her to the dealer and they said I need all new rotors & brakes...so my soon to be bill almost $2k... Possible? I don't ride the brakes or brake hard....

Rotors on GM Parts Direct are $81 each pads depend on what you get. There price sounds really out of line. Also brakes are easy to do. Just had one of my rotors off Saturday to replace a stud. Realty ease as are replacing pads.

How many miles do you have??? That is one thing that could determine if both are needed.
but there are 2 reasons the brakes will squeak.
1) is caused by a vibration which is common for our brakes to do in the first place.
2) it could be the pads are worn down so low that the indicator is rubbing.
another thing you can do to is buy aftermarket brake pads. Those will be far cheaper, and also will have brake dust as well. I will let those chime in that purchased alternative pads speak from their experiences.

I just bought Baer slotted and drilled rotors (4) from Phastek for less than 600 and no charge for shipping I'll change them myself in less than 2 hours. Pads can be changed easily. Just my 2 cents worth

But a dealers price is always outrageous. You are always better off buying else where

Were those prices of parts only or those parts installed? I can tell you that I got Carbotech XP series high temp race pads for the Vette front and rear for 600.00, so you shouldn't be paying 772.00 for just pads plain w/o install.
I had pads swapped out at Libertyville after a Road America event.. I don't remember how much it was out the door for ACDelco pads, but I know it wasn't 700 for them. I kept my DBA rotors on though, so I'm curious to know if they can't simply turn them or if they do need a full replacement.
I would def get a second opinion.

Thank you thats total parts & labor they said if they cut or trim the rotors they would be below the allowed grade. I wish I would have had a warning that I was close to the rotors getting ruined = ) I guess there isn't a dashboard display flashing Im close to rotor time = ) thanks for the input
