  • Winter Storage

This will be the first winter that I'm actually storing my car away and won't be driving it for the winter months. Other than throwing a cover over it in the garage are there any other suggestions, tips, or things that you all do prior to storing your cars? Going to be sad to put it away! Thanks in advance to everyone.

Go to home depot or menardss and get some THICK 1/2 or better Rubber mats to park each tire over. That will help with flat spots somewhat. I would also suggest starting it once a month and rolling it in and out if you can, let it run for 20 minutes. obviously, a climate controlled storage is always better for all the seals, rubber and interior leather band plastic. oh and if you have electric put a trickle charger on the battery or take the battery out and keep it charged at home.

Battery Tender - $40 at Pep Boys / Auto Zone. 1 bottle of Stabil if you have a full tank of gas. Silicone spray the rubber seals. Windows open 1 ". Car cover. Open box of Baking soda, placed on front passenger floor - on something to catch if it gets knocked over.

Pour the Stabil in at the gas station then fill it up. Drive about 5 miles for the stabil gas to get to the engine. Park it and kiss it good night.....for 3-4 months. :-(

I use the 1/2" pink insulation board you can buy at any home improvement store. It has enough crush to it to not give you flat spots. i did it last year thinking it may not work and to my surprise it did. I let my cars sit the entire time w/o starting. Id rather have 1 dryfire than multiples in the cold.

In addition to all the other good suggestions on here I always put some dryer sheets
in the trunk, driver and passenger side floor boards. Helps keep mice out of the car.
