I waited until today, just about the last possible day! First time taking the stock wheels off, it went well but my winter tires do not have TPMS, so I'll have to get used to the warning light this winter.

ya, I would have put in the TPMS sensors if i were you.
reprogramming takes 2 min in your driveway (once they are installed in the tire)
installation of the tire is the same with or without the sensor.
You saved at least $120 (on the devices) but have to deal with the alerts light, I think there is a error that take over the center screen too. believe me, I have led light and i am about to remove(or fix with a resistor) just to get ride of the error.
and with Chicago weather you will have pressure variances and i don't want to come out to my car in the morning only to have a flat in 2 degree weather (unlikely but it has happen to me in my blazer(3rd party tpms now installed in the blazer)). not fun.
btw i was glade to switch to my winter pair. as long as the temps starts to stay below 40 degrees the tires are fine. my summer tire were strating to let go in the lower temps.
i would have liked to have the TPMS in the winter tires, but I bought them already mounted. Maybe next year I'll trade up for a set of black rims with the sensors installed.

Be sure to check out the Consumer Reports Fall Tire update which is out, complete with winter tire reviews! Paywall for the real meat, but here's the teaser:
This is good information to use along with additional supporting info. Do not base any decision on solely consumer reports. I will tell you these reports are not always accurate. There are I believe financial investments. We have found many many instances that there test results do not match up with real world results. In addition not every tire performs the same way in each different size and or on different types of cars or with different types of drivers. They also do not test all the tire choices. There are always new and improved tires coming out and a lot of times replace the tire they tested and since they did not do test recently as of publication date they may be left out of tests. I would research reviews as well and always get an experienced tire sales person to help. Tires are the most significant mod you can make to your car and they are the most important safety item on your car. Everything starts and stops with the tire!!!
My company works with the Consumer Reports team on other product lines, I don't have any reason to believe they aren't honest in their reviews. However, they make their own decisions about what to test (they buy the samples, they don't accept gift samples), and they design their own tests so it might not match real use or industry tests. But I wouldn't accuse them of anything nefarious.

This should help many here, the Fall 2013 Performance Winter Tire and Winter Tire ratings from Consumer Reports (truck is separate and not included below). I am running the Hankook I*cept Evo W310 225/55R16 XL 99V VSB on my '02 Camaro RS -- pretty happy overall, much better than all season tires. My first set of winter tires. Looks like in the Pre-fall 2013 ratings in my following post they rated the V speed rated I*cepts, but the one directly below is only the H speed rated ones...
