  • hid problem

now i cant find any answers to this online but i bought hid's for my camaro a simple plug and play that i had put in my girlfriends corolla and my previous car (a chevy cobalt). after about one day of having the bulbs in my car tripped a traction control issue and shut the engine down so i had limited power something called stabilitrak idk, so i took it in and the dealer said it was a bad fuel pump. when i picked it up all seemed fine until that night when only 1 of the 2 turned on and it shut down the engine once again so i thought maybe headlights did something. i went back to stock and reset the battery its been fine since. what do i do? please help, this is such an easy mod turned hard by the stupid new computers

    It's possible that there's a bad ballast?

there is a detailed long thread about this on camaro5
It's a grounding problem and you need a different harness to ground each of them differently, go read about it there, it's too long for me to explain it here, if you can't find it let me know hope this helps
It's in the DIY and how to do section

Need a TRS Bi-Xenon relay harness to ground pin 2 the right way for each light.

Yup, he nailed it on the head.

These electrical systems are very very touchy, so when you alter electrical currents like that it can mess with the whole car. As you have found out.

Be very careful going forward as you are lucky the dealer did it under warranty.

That thread is basically talking about running HID's on a non-RS. If a grounding issue is brought up, it's deep in there.

Non-RS cars put out a PWM signal during the day which has a lower, average voltage. You need to connect the low-beams to another source.

I'm already having a few issues and I just put on the RS lights last week. I knew it was lot of work but no one warned me of any issues... I guess I'll need to look for that thread also.

Diy5thgen.com. Ofer sold it to me. The person who sold me the lights says it a bulb issue that I have... They won't match up correct.... He has send me mix and matches and they won't work... I should get a complete two set from him today or tomorrow and he said it would work but he said that before...

What do you mean "won't match up"? Do you mean plug in?

The passager side light is not as powerful as the drivers.. Not the halo but the bulb itself.... When I shine it on the garage it is more yellow and not as clear... When I got the lights the drivers was new and the passager was used. He claims its all the bulbs and nothing to do with the harness or headlight unit....
