  • Front seal failure!

My V6 has been leaking a slight bit of oil so I brought it to the dealer and they said the front seal (RTV) is failing. I searched this on Camaro5 and found a lot of people have this problem. The repair is on its second day! anyone else have the trouble? better yet anyone else have Libertyville Chevy fix this problem for them and how did it work out for you?

Funny you should mention this... I took my Camaro out for a quick spin within the last week and a half and when I got home, my wife said she thought she saw an oil spot where I park in the garage. Forgot to look at it, but now that you mention your issue, I better look again! Thanks.

so the dealer tells me I owe them $31 for the difference between Mobile 1 and dinosaur oil! They are doing major surgery on a car with a factory defect that only has 28000 miles on it and they want to charge me for oil that wouldn't need to be replaced if this problem never happened......its not the $ its the principle! WTF

If they did that without you okaying it, I would tell them that they can pay for it, or remove the oil and put in the free stuff. If they seriously change the oil, you could always get another oil change right away, but at least you've made your point. And you would have to pay for the oil anyway.

Wait, what? Are they charging you this because you asked them to put mobil 1 back in? The car requires dexos certified oil, which should be semisynthetic or better, anyway... Don't think they should be using standard dino oil.

My car split the front seal as well around 25k miles. My car was fixed under warranty, they added dye to the oil and determined the front seal was leaking. They replaced the oil in my car with Mobil 1 Synthetic at no charge.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is this at Libertyville Chevrolet? We have a contact there. If they are really giving you a hard time, let me know and I'll give them a call.

The repair is holding up well but I don't drive it regularly yet. it didn't go badly but there are things they could've done better if they want to insure repeat business....for example the oil change business with mobile 1 and secondly i asked for a loaner which they said they would give me but I would need to return it when the car was done....normally very reasonable accept that we had a heavy snow storm that day and I never would've made it home in the camaro (in tact). Its the little things about good customer service and reducing the inconvenience of a warranty repair that they should focus on more......just my opinion
