  • Question about overall tire Dia.

I have just picked up the following tires

    Nitto 555R 305/35/20 rear
    Nitto 555 275/35/20 front

The overall dai is 1" smaller for the front.

Is this ok? Will it look ok?

i believe you should be ok with a slight difference like that.

My major concern would be more the smaller sidewall, and stetching that 305 to fit a stock 9inch rim. Yes people have done it before but it defeats the purpose of the tire because it messes with the footprint of the tire.

But ultimately to answer your questions i dont think it will throw a ABS light or anything.

I disagree. You need to be under 3% difference from the OE size. That 275/35 is 3.88%, and may cause issues. Especially since the rears are in spec

Ah yes i missed the front wheel. I was looking at the rear wheel size. My appologies.

It will also throw the light because of the difference in diameter from the rear vs the front. If it detects a about 1/2 inch variance from 1 wheel to the next could cause it by itself.

It is 1/2 of an inch sifference the the OEM wheels on a ZL1. The ZL1 has a 1/2 difference in overall dia in the OEM tires front to rear.

Will 1/2 over all more make a huge difference 1/4" in one direction

              ZL1 goodyears are 27.9" front 28.4 rear

Yes. A half inch is normal variance, more is not. Your car is also not programmed for the difference, where the ZL1 likely is.

                  This is where you stand...

                  STOCK
                  Front 245/45-20 = 28.68" tall
                  Rear 275/40-20 = 28.66" tall

                  ZL1
                  Front 275/35-20 = 27.57" tall
                  Rear 305/35-20 = 28.40" tall

what i mean is when the front wheel diameter is more than 1/2 an inch different than the back. with this setup just by having the front almost a full inch shorter than the back with throw the code off.

Might it also effect the accuracy of the speedo?

If the diameter is right on the driven axle, likely not.

Yes it is tuned but i figured i would just exchange them so they match up. plus i plan on lowering it so i dont want it to low in the front
