A leaked GM document referred to two new engines that might find their way to the 2014 Camaro MY

The first one is referenced as “ENGINE, GAS 6 CYL, 3.6L, SIDI, DOHC, VVT, ALUM, TWIN TURBO” which means a 6-cylinder, 3.6-liter twin-turbo, aluminum-block, direct-injection, with variable valve-timing . According to previous reports, it would be capable of developing approximately 355 hp (265 kW).

Included in the engine list for the VIN key is the LS7 engine but iy didn’t mentionthe Vehicle Line/Series section which means that we don’t know what name an LS7-powered Camaro might get (maybe Z28?)

It is important to mention this document is available on a General Motors-owned domain so the info provided is legitimate.

Wonder if it was a typo and is 455? That would seem more likely with a twin turbo wouldn't it?

problem is, the TT 3.6 is NOT listed on the 2014 Camaro's VIN card in that same documentation. It's likely going for the Caddy, and won't be in the Camaro in 2014. If it were, it would be in that VIN info.

355 is correct. GM never pushes the boost on turbos. Its probably greatly tuned down running low boost, or the direct injection is the limitation.

i understand that GM doesn't push the boost of the turbos. Realistically most car companies don't like to because it increase longevity of the turbo.

Its common that being boosted they would lower the compression ratio which i understand, but i feel its a waste of design to gain 20 hp.

And DI would never limit a boosted application. If anything it makes it more productive. It allows for more precise tuning and wouldn't hold anything back.

Just seems silly to me to add two turbos to an engine, work on all the adjustments and tuning to ultimately gain 20hp. i would hope to see it go to 400 at least. especially when you have the ford taurus SHO has 365. I would hope they would take it over that.

I wouldn't put much stock in the numbers from that article... no real source cited for those numbers.
