  • Kid with SS

    Hello,
Im the kid with the LS, this summer im going to trade it in and buy a SS. can you give me a idea what pricing I should look at with about 10k-15k down? Also anything else i should be considering when switching from the V6 to V8 other than power?

I say stay with the V6 but thats just me. It you want power and the SS is what you want list out the reasons first...then look at what you have and you will loose lots of money trading your car in for an SS.

If you want speed wait a few more months and the Turbo kits will be released....;-)

The first kits is out now and V6 is putting out 500+hp way more than a stock SS and you will have a sleeper and something unique at the same time! Just my thoughts...

If you are going to trade it in let me know what the dealer is going to give you for it and we can try to get more for you so dealer doesn't take you too bad....

I just want that true V8 sound.
Im not really in concern about speed because i never push my car.
I went to the dealer and my sales men told me he would give me what i payed for my car before tax, etc.

You may want to look into insurance costs. V8 and 16 years old =high premium.

You may want to get your dealer's statement in writing, doesn't make sense that they'll pay what you did for the car. They are not in the charity business.

If you can swing it, I would. The SS is amazing. I love my V6 too, but if I had a spare 7k I would have bought the SS.

its in my dad's name the insurance company said I don't have to have insurance until im 18 because who ever drives the car is insured.
They worked really hard to help me out with everything I want.

What you are trying to do doesn't really make sense to me. You don't want more speed bc you don't push it. Why would you upgrade to the V8 then. Get an loud exhaust to improve your sound and save your parents (or yourself) thousands of $.Thats just my opinion.

I have a V6......i love my car. I do undestand whaat you mean about the sound because it is different. I put MRT 2.0 on and an airaid intake, I must say it sounds pretty darn good =).......if your not going for performance and just for sound then keep the 6 and learn to love it

waste all that money just for sound doesn't make sense to me,

I talked with you and your dad at the kona meet and he seem to be happy with the car you on the other hand didn't seem too happy with it, the MRT 2.0 sound like a ferrari when on the mid's to high RPM's I tried to show you but you can't really apreciate the sound with the car standing still.

but that is Just my opinion,

yeah dude wait for the turbo to come out, it'll be a beast! You should look at the Jay Leno camaro, one of the coolest I've seen, which is a twin turbo v6.

the mrt 1.0 and new headers would that make the car sound deeper at higher RPM's.

Don't get me wrong I love the car and I'm very happy I got the car I was just a little Disappointed at the sound.
The turbo my dad said i couldn't get it. He just like for a car to be completely stock. he's not into cars like I am.

Jay Lenos Camaro is sick! I saw it in the magazine and I really agree with getting the turbo kit when a good one comes one!

would single or twin turbo be the best?

Do yourself and your family a favor and find a new agent/company BEFORE you have an accident. EVERY insurance company either has or is about to change their auto contracts so that EVERY household member must be either listed or excluded from coverage. If you wait and have a claim and you tell your adjuster ...."Duh, my agent said I don't need to be listed on the policy..." I can tell you for sure you will have NO coverage whatsoever! Make sure you are listed as a driver in your household on your auto insurance!!!! Companies no longer "rate" you on a car. They now use "Predictive Modeling" which is a matrix designed by how many drivers and how many cars are in the household. Believe me, you and your parents could lose everything you do or willever own, no joke.
