Stock HP

Ok i know this has been discussed some where before an i missed out on it and can't find the answer on the internet. So i need some help from my camaro folks.

How much horse power am i getting stock? i know Chevy says 323HP

At what RPM will you hit that 323HP and at what speed? I have 2LS 2013 so my speed is limited due to gears and my tire size. I feel like when i am hitting it hard i am not getting that 323HP..

Has anyone put there car on the dyno before MODS and seen what HP they were getting from the factory? Then MOD it and placed back on the dyno to see the gains?

the 323hp techincally is right around 6800rpm. Now this is flywheel horsepower which is different then the power being put down at the wheels.

A camaro produces 323 horsepower at the engine flywheel. With an automatic transmission, manufacturer's test data indicates that 20 percent of the flywheel horsepower is lost to driveline losses. With a manual transmission, the vehicle is said to lose 16 percent of flywheel horsepower to driveline losses.

so if i do the math 323 x 0.20=258HP to the ground not bad at all

Sounds about right.

hey sorry for the delayed response, got busy at work haha. But yes that is pretty much the math that most of us use. I usually do 20% just to look at it as a worst case scenario type thing. If you cars drivetrain draws less then its better :-)

I would say the two biggest mods you can do to feel more power on the V6 are a cold air intake and ported throttle body, both reasonably priced.

dont forget headers or overall better flowing exhaust. If you are going to let more air in, and fill the combustion chamber with more oxygen and fuel, you need to be able to let it out better too.

So what you guys are saying is the best practice to get more HP gain out my V6 is CAI,PTB,Headers,Exhaust system or i can just get the 1LE rear end for the V6

I agree with Steveo on this one, You did mention more HP but there are ways to make the car feel and move a little quicker without necesarily adding power.

exhaust work and intake work will give you a little more power, but results by changing gearing and drivetrain parts could give a better "feeling" of an increase in speed then adding power itself.

So besides what your actual goal is, you have to look at budget as well.

Sweeet! I've been wanting to get mine dyno'd. Didn't make up there last year. Thought about having it done at C5Fest, but just too dang hot.
