  • New, 2014 Motor Option

    Hmm...

    GM's dealer vin cards are posted for the 2014 model year. A new engine code is listed for the Camaro. The LS7 engine "E".

    No new vehicle line/series listing,other than the currently offerings ( ie Z28)

    FYI, the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 motor is currently used in the Corvette Z06 (505hp @ 6300rpm / 470 lb-ft @ 4800rpm).

      I'm curious if this will happen...of course! The LS7 has been around too long though, since 06. I don't think they would put it in a 2014....unless its redisigned!! More power? Direct injected? Hmmm...

        Its legit for 2014 model year. I don't know if its going to be tagged a z28, but I had an insider tell me something with bigger power was coming to the lineup this year. He said think COPO but street legal.

          You would think if they changed anything that they would label it as something other than ls7. Maybe ls8???

          I am curious as well as i was expecting this to die down and us seeing an improved version of it coming out. Although a minor change it would be enough to change the name. Let the speculation begin!!!

          I read in an article that the write assumed it was because of the c7 production stopping that there was a surplus of the ls7, so they decided to release it as an option for that year. I feel a Z28 coming back very soon.

              I have to think the c7 will get a new z06 engine. Not sure if it will be LS8 since the base is changing to an LT designation.

                I agree, GM usually does introduce a new and improved engine with the Z06. I dont see them stopping now, I anticipate a newer design similiar to the new LT1 but more discplacement similiar to the ls7. My predictions

                base and GS models = LT1 @ 450hp
                Z06 = LT6 maybe??? @ 540-550hp
                ZR1 = LT9 maybe??? @ 700-720hp <-- they have to beat the gt500

                we will see!

                    COPO's dont receive a VIN number because they can NOT be legally registered for highway use. So it would eliminate that. Example: there is not an engine code for the current COPO engine setups.

                    Unless of course they will attempt to make them street legal in the future... but that would eliminate them from the class of racing they are designed for. So most speculate Z28.

                      I wonder where in the price range a Z28 with this engine, whatever its called, would fall. More than a ZL1?

                        Yeah that's a good question. The Z28 was always the lighter more nimble car and the SS was the more powerful car, setup more for a straight line.

                        So if the bring it back I wonder If they are gonna change that or put the ls7 in the SS and keep the ls3 for the z28(1le)

                        sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

                          I don't see this being a reality considering the zo6 won't even exist then. Especially when gm is designing lower displacement engines now.

                            Well there have been plenty of actual confirmations that an ls7 will be showing up in a camaro in 2014. What the model will be no one knows yet.

                              1le + ls7 = z28?
