The Pirelli snows are great. I can get any model tire available and I still feel in my experience the Bridgestone Blizzak is the best winter tire available. There are a few of the 18"aftermarket wheels that will clear calipers with no snow in them. Although its pretty tight and if you get snow in the wheels It rubs the inside of wheel. I would use 20 inch for SS it seems to do a better job in all around performance. I have 18 and 20 inch both in stock.
I'm an L99 SS and daily driving on 275 and 245/ 20 Pirelli Scorpion Snow + Ice. In a word... GREAT.
Yesterday I watched a newish Mustang GT struggle to get through a small parking lot and I felt bad for the guy. Then I drove right around him.
I don't have any plans to be near Carol Stream but am on the North side if anyone wants to take my car for a spin. I also have a converter and other bolt-ons so instead of making 320rwhp I'm probably around 380rwhp.
I just will sometimes get a little squiggle, a little spin, launching from a light in a few inches of snow. Car very quickly hooks and goes. I don't try to mess around at WOT, they are not drag radials. Just to see I've gradually floored it and eventually I overpower the tires.
Previous to the Camaro, I daily drove a 2006 TBSS RWD 1SS. I just threw 2-4 (70lb) bags of sand in the back. That worked 95% of the time for me but there were those times when I had trouble driving home, like as it was snowing. The stock tires were Continentals of some kind. Had I known how great these snow tires were I would have gotten a set, the rears on the Camaro are the same size as on the TBSS front and rear.
I am not using any of my sand, and I'm not bothering to keep the gas full either to aid in traction, the tires are that good.

I don't have an SS, but I've got the Pirelli's in 18" on mine for the winter. Indeed they are excellent!
The all-season BFG's are probably passable for winter use, but I figured, since I have dedicated summer tires, why not get dedicated snow tires, too.
After a lengthy thought process, I ended up putting the GoodYear Ultragrip 3's on Karla's 'vert, as the OE size Pirelli's were discontinued. I haven't driven it in the snow yet, but she seems to think they handle well.
So are you saying that you drive on 18's and all season radials fron bFG in the winter? And it handles good?
Sorry, I don't log in much here. Just saw your question.
Obviously, they don't handle like performance tires, but at an estimate, I would say their handling is about 80% of what the stock pirelli will give you. Which is more than adequate on the street. As for snow, I have driven them through the three big snow falls we had this winter, and they did great. Mind you, getting the car moving from a dead stop in thick snow is tricky. they just want to spin. But once you get moving, from 10-40 mph or so, the car was very steady on snow covered roads. I never felt like I was going to lose control.
If anyone is interested, I am trading in my Camaro and I will be selling these. I am gonna put a thread up in the classifieds.
