This is what stock gearing equals
3.45 gears:
Top speed in X gear:
1st: 51 mph
2nd: 74 mph
3rd: 107 mph
4th: 153 mph
5th: 182 mph
6th: 269 mph
so i have plenty of room to change out the gearing, From my understand if i go to a 3.73 it will change the top speed in 4th down to around 142mph

Do you shift at 7000 or ?
I'm interested in doing some gear too but first I'll do the converter. I might not be able to hook the car with as much gear as I'd like to run, the torque multiplication might be crazy.2010 Camaro SS/RS L99

my redline is at 6900 so i shift just before that.
My stock gearing is 3.45, and yours being an A6 is 3.27. Most say you will get the best results if you were to jump up to a 3.73.
They say the best fit for the manual is a 4.10, but i just dont want to shift into 5th. So i am trying to leave room for more power so i wont reach redline in 4th before the end.

Yeah I've run various gearing over the years. Comes down to what makes sense and what's important.
I'd love to see what my car would do with 3.91 gears and a 3600 stall, but the ET might not be worth the big hit in fuel economy for me. We'll see. If I ran 3.91 gears I'd finish the 1/4 more efficiently I think but I have to see what rpms I'm doing with the new stall once it's in. 3.70's would be nice too.2010 Camaro SS/RS L99

As to my winter project....
Some more reasonable glam under the hood - I think Lorrie and Santa are teaming up on this one!
Powder coating a few things
Maybe BMR rear trailing arms
Torque converter - what number 3600?
Maybe a new 3.73 gear - who cares about fuel economy anyway.....
Something under the hood like a cam - what grind - don't know yetL99 to LS3 Conversion, Speed Inc Comp Cam, SLP LT Headers, Corsa Exhaust, Roto Fab CAI, FAST 102 Manifold, Nick Williams 102 TB, FAST Fuel Rails, Yank 3400, 3.91 Gear and TrueTrac, BMR Suspension, Foose Wheels, Heritage Grill

I would say a 3200 stall would be the highest to go with. I have even seen some great 60ft times from 2800 stalls which still keep is fun to drive on the street too.
sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Haha a list made for show and go. Very nice.

Thanks for all of your help and insight.
The real question is how aggressive do you want to get. Plus what future plans you want to go with.
Cams can be so specific to a build I dont throw specific packages around because they are so touchy with all variables. The experts on this would be whatever shop will be installing it because they can tweak all aspects to fit your car. I am well versed in boosted cams due to my history but when it comes to N/A cams i would need to do research.
