Use of an iPAD at Car Shows - Battery Question

So, here's my question. If I connect an iPAD to the USB port and turn the car key to the accessories setting so that it will play through the car stereo, how long do you think the battery will last before the car won't start?

The iPAD battery will last a long time so I could also connect the iPAD through the AUX jack so that the iPAD is not drawing power off the car battery.

Or, should I purchase a set of battery powered speakers and go that route so I'm not draining the car battery.

The speaker on the iPAD just doesn't cut the mustard. Is there another way to go about this?

I work for At&t currently and it will all depend on how loud the music will be and the age of your battery. I would say safely an hour and normal listening volume. I would do it for like 20-30 min max if you want.

There are Bluetooth speaker systems that we sell that actually can get very loud and have a very good sound quality. Price ranging from $150 up to $400. If you wanna stop by the woodfield mall At&t we can show you.

I was thinking of a battery powered boom box type setup or something similar. The more I've thought about this, the more I want to stay away from using the car system. I just don't want to get stranded somewhere. How embarrasing that would be.

I'm betting that was due to his stock lights (side markers and tails) and not the radio and power port. Those lights pull about 2A each, so, that is 16A!

Battery Saver is actually a relatively old GM feature. It works much of the time, but don't depend on it. You can cross the point of no return. My mom has two trucks - one is her spare/backup/heavy duty task vehicle. It's a full size - a 2001 GMC Sierra. It has the feature.

I just jumped it for her while I was visiting last weekend.

The radio started off (the clock was on), as was the dome light off (even though the door was open) - but the instrumentation worked.

The truck wouldn't start. She hadn't driven it for a few weeks and it was cooked. After jumping it, after a couple of seconds the radio turned on by itself, as did the dome light.

Battery Saver still didn't save her, as she'd crossed that starter threshold. Features to help your vehicle start are nice, but there's no replacement for a good set of jumper cables!

I keep them in my truck. The problem is that I don't have my truck when I'm driving my car...

You could always look into a solar battery charger. You would be amazed at what is out there right now. Prices aren't that bad either. Look online. There are planty out there. Last time I was at Menards, they had them on clearance cheap.

Depends on what I am trying to do. I have portable power from a power inverter if there is electric. If not My Ipad sits in a stand and I run the sound from I pad. its lous enough if done correctly. I will try and post picture of the stand I made when I get home.

If you aren't trying to get TOO loud I would suggest one of these

I think 2 of models can be chained in a row with 3.5 jacks and can have multiple speakers.

They give GREAT sound out of a little speaker. (3-5x's louder then ipad speakers from what I have heard)

the 2 I would recommend would be either the BIG jambox for $299.00 very good quality sound and you get the option of an aux jack or Bluetooth.

The other option is for very loud sound and good base which is the beatbox. $399 but amazing how loud it gets. Also accepts a aux cable or Bluetooth.

Any AT&T store will have them on display. Check em out.
