Newer pads I don't believe had them anymore as they fixed the issue the right way.

They started using them midway through the first year builds and then stopped a year or so later.

So if you purchase pads from the dealer now, they won't have the skates, to the best of my knowledge.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Cutting off the roller skates looks hard, I might nick the Brembos. So the newer Camaro pads should work okay eh?

How hard to swap the fronts?

Pads are easy on the brembos. There should be two horizontal pins that you can hammer out. And then the pads slide right out.

i had replaced after Road America last year and they did not have the weights. Pad swap isn't bad. BannedOne and I swapped pads, lines and rotors (caliper removal) on my '10 in his driveway with hand tools. hardest part was tty bolts on calipers, so pads should be easy for you.

Okay so I can probably order some from Jim N then Jeremy.

So take the caliper off, take rotors off, hammer pins out, slid out old pads, slide in new pads, hammer pins back in, rotors back on, and then calipers have a torque spec. Anyone know the torque spec?

J, I have to also grind that one spot too I'm going to do the wheels up front too.

You dont have to remove the caliper. just tap out the pins.

The OE pads should still have the roller skates... 1st gen cts-v pads fit the Camaro front brembo calipers, No roller skates

I would have to look at my service papers, but Libertyville swapped out my pads after I took the Carbotechs off and I don't believe they had the skate weights on them any longer. I don't remember the P/N that was listed. I could check my papers tonight and see if it's listed.

Sure if you come across them I'd be curious.

I've got a tight week and would love to have pads locked in today so I'd have a shot at swapping them on Saturday.

It won't be until later this afternoon, even if the P/N is on there... Why not just call them up and see if someone in parts can tell you if the pads have weights on them? They should be able to tell you pretty quickly.

Everything I'm reading says the stock V8 Camaro pads all have the skates so I need aftermarket or a OEM part that fits like maybe these V pads. I don't need or want ceramic.

FYI - I changed out my stock pads with Hawk Ceramic's. Took my about an hour and half. Took longer to jack the car up and take the wheel off than it did to change the pads out.

You do no need to take anything off the car. Use a punch to take out the pins that hold the top spring clip in and the pads will come out. Replace one side at a time and push in the cylinders with a screw driver to gain more room because the new pads are thicker than what you're taking out. First thing to is to take the cap of the brake fluid resevoir before you start anything. This will allow the fluid to run back when you push the cylinders in with the screw driver.

Hope this makes sense. By the way, I still have my stock pads with 5000 miles on them if anyone wants them. Fronts have the roller skates on them.

When you do replace the pads, the new ones should come with some lube. My Hawks did anyway. Use that on the back of the new pad before installing. This will help prevent any noise. Mine have worked well so far.

FYI my 2012 has roller skates on the front. So I doubt the dealer has updated them.
