  • My brakes locked up

Today I was off work and out and about enjoying my camaro. After enjoying a tasty treat at the local DQ, my traction control light, ABS, and brake lights came on. Uh oh. Pulled over the side of the road and checked out my brakes. Front left caliper was locked onto the rotor. Got home, called Jason for advice, then got the wheel off. Took off my caliper, removed the brake pads, then put it all back to gether. No lights, so took it for a test drive. Still no warning lights.

Yeah, not far from home. The traction control was disabled and I got the back to wiggle a bit going around a turn. The manual says to pull over and get a tow truck. I just took it home and dealt with it myself. Just another reason to use my floor jack, jack stands and creeper! lol

needs to be looked at for sure, caliper sticking and wont retract or abs is stopping it from retracting more then likely. You may fixed it for now but i would hazard a guess that that wheel and rotor is going to continue to have alot more friction and burn thru the pad quicker or start warping the rotor from the heat after a short time. Keep your eye open for more brake dust on that one compared to the other or pulsation when braking.

yeesh. If it was locked up for that long you may have heat damage on the pads/rotors...

but how exactly did you determine that one of them was locked? did you jack up the wheel and try to turn it or ?

Ok your 1st mistake was going to DQ without me. 2nd mistake was not calling me 1st for advice. I could have walked you thru the repair process. Well I hope you learned something from this
