  • Camaro Striping...

To start out this post sorry I have been gone throughout the winter! Been up to stuff at work and school. Anyway.. as spring gets closer and closer I have been bringing my car into our dealership to get small things taken care of, wind guard on the sunroof, clip on the passenger side door, etc etc.. But today I tackled a bigger issue. The stripes on my car that were dealer installed look like crap, about 6 months of having the car there was permanent water spotting, streaks, and fading. My car is turning 2 this month so I decided to go in and see what's up. After being sent to three different places in the dealership they basically said that when I come in tomorrow to have a part replaced that they will fully see what they can do.. possibly replacing the stripes. I honestly want to get some money back and have the stripes completely removed, I don't really want GM's stripes on there anymore.. But was ultimately told that they will "probably" fall under warranty and be replaced. What do you guys think of this situation? Have you heard anything like it before or have any suggestions for me?

I think there was a stripe issue before, but, there were a lot of cases of people that applied wax to them.

Pull the stripes off and have Pete paint you a set of stripes that will last! I doubt they will give you a refund though. Let us know how it turns out.

Well the just have them put another set on, document and photograph everything and if the second set goes bad, maybe they will off you a refund instead of going through the labor a third time.

I like that idea if they actually cover the stripes, I'm going to have them try and change from the hockey package to rally stripes instead. The hockey stripe package which I was forced into due to the discontinuation of the ABM color I never really wanted in the first place ($510 option) where the rally stripes are $400. In reality I really want

              One can always dream though...

We have had our car for 3 years in June. In october they replaced the stripes on the hood under warranty. We have the matte black rally stripes. They replaced ours because we found a bubble in it . They look great now.

Well I went in today to have my wind deflector fixed on the sunroof (also called GM directly before I went in) They broke it down like this..

Option A. Repair current stripes on car
Option B. Replace stripes on the car
Option C. Take off current stripes and issue dealer credit

What I'm thinking about doing is having them issue the $510 credit, do the rally stripe package on the car, and use the remaining credit on door sill plates.

What are those Tony? Didn't see anything else in their parts book.

The OEM 'vert sills include a plastic part that actually wraps around the lip of the sill... offers better protection than just the normal sills.

--see the black plastic incorporated to the Sill sticker? --

I like it, but I think I'm restricted to their damn outdated part book they have -_-

it's actually an OEM part, not in the accessories catalog. If they have a SS 'vert on the lot, go pull the VIN and have the parts guy look it up
