I'm afraid to try the launch for fear of broken half shafts.

I hear ya! From what I have seen, if yours is not an early build, you should be okay.

Should the PDIM be turning off the iPod when the car is turned off, if left plugged in? I left the car at the dealer for a few things, one of which is that when turning on the car, the radio will flip to the ipod (not all the time, but fairly consistent, it seems) Dealer said this afternoon that the ipod doesnt turn off with the car, letting the battery drain. Then when the battery drains, the act of starting the car kicks the ipod into charge mode, which wakes up the input.... ?

The PDIM should turn off with key out drivers door open or 5 minutes (I think that's the timer limit) after key out. If it isn't then yes it can be causing what you are experiencing

Service writer claimed that there was a bulletin regarding this happening, and that it was normal operation, if ipod is left plugged in, but from what you suggest, there's an issue with the PDIM or programming ?

The only time a V6 software snapshot would be called out is when a question of abuse is raised. That also applies in the cause of abnormal breakage or repair of any GM vehicle.

That being said, headers themselves will not void your warranty. The part replacement or addition (in the case of turbos or superchargers) has to cause the failure or breakage to cause action of GM to deny the claim. As well if they believe or can prove abuse or racing of the vehicle they have the right to deny the claim &/or block full or partial sections of the factory limited warranty, emission select, and the powertrain warranties.

                    That answer your question?
So is connecting a tuner only to turn off the AFM considered a TUNE and voiding the warranty as well? (I really hate it.)

The power and connection should cease with key out door open or battery drain time out but when you restart the car (key in power on or start) the connection and power will come back thru PDIM and will wake the IPod and restart the connection causing the radio module to connect and select the iPod

                              second to last conditon/concern description:

At ignition ON, the previous radio source, such as AM, FM or XM, returns to the USB input rather than the previous radio source selection

It's supposed to be constant... But mine does it intermittent as well. Have them check for software updates. If they won't let me know I will dig further into SI and possibly escalate it to TAC
