well now that I have my intake and exhaust done. What should i do....
Keep going performance? I dont want to void warranty yet so that is limited.
aesthetic? I was thinking about the wheels still. Maybe a ZL1 front grill seeing as the bumper is out of my price range at the moment.
any suggestions?
If you don't want to worry about warranty, there's not really too terribly much more you can do with performance... It all touches the suspension or power train in some way and it'll be up to your dealer really when/where they draw the line. You could recoup existing performance by making your car lighter in various ways, but outside of gutting the interior, removing crash support/safety systems and beams, touching power train/suspension, you're pretty much limited to lighter rotors, wheels, tires -- but that's going to cost you $$$.. You could look around for carbon fiber bits, but that's going to cost $$$ and weaken the car in its crash ratings. Gutting the interior just makes the car look like crap when not done correctly -- which, is fine if you're going to be on the track most of the time.. Awful for a DD car.. Plus, I think there are some issues with legality when you start ditching the seats and removing OEM air bags.. A great deal of this car's weight we're just stuck with.. DietCoke had a nice thread over on Cam5 about all the weights of pieces removed.. I think 300-400lbs is about it and that's with drastic mods.. --- There's always that lightweight battery thing, but the CCA on them all I believe is junk for our climate.. Especially for DD cars.
That's why most 5th Gen owners skip lightening the car when it's not inline with other mods, like headers, coilovers, lightweight wheels, etc and just add more power to compensate for it... But, that gets in to where you don't want to be.. Dead warranty...
If you're not sure what to do next, sleep on it awhile....
I personally am not big on cosmetic bits from one line/model on another, but that's just me... However, I'd have less issue with just the grille than say the entire nose/rear.. I guess as long as you're not slapping SS on V6 or ZL1 on SS then it's just an aftermarket mod.. It's just always an awkward line to walk there..

Great info thanks. Yeah I know power wise there is not much more I can do. I'd just hate for something to happen with the car and it not be warrantied.
Got my winter beater up for sale and going to look for a more daily friendly car. Once I have that then I will worry less about the warranty.
2012 45th AE 2SS
CAI intake
Dynatech 1 7/8 LT (installed soon)
SOLO mach XL catback
I would get that all lined up first... Every mod and race is a roll of the dice with any car.. For me, I live and work in Chicago, so my car -- while a DD -- is not required for anything I really do.. Even shopping is right down the street.. Plus, I have access to the full line of CTA buses and trains here to get me everywhere.
Obviously not the same options for everyone.
If you don't want to worry about messing up the PT warranty.. Just pick some cosmetic stuff you like and have at it.
