  • I'm without my camaro

Well BAD NEWS about my camaro. I drove it to work last nite and I got out I smelled burning wires??? So I get off of work and drive home my camaro I get the strong odor of my antifreeze coming thru my vents?? So I talked to my dealer on my lunch break and my coworker followed me to my dealership to drop off my camaro around 6 tonight. On the way in dropping it off the smell of my antifreeze was smelling so bad. I drove 70mph on the highway with all the windows down??? I was going to call Chevy to come pick the camaro on a tow trunk when I came home from work but decided to drive it there instead??? I don't trust tow truck drivers and my dealer I go to is 27 miles away and in the next county? Good news is EVERYTHING is COVERED! I tore apart my suspension on the camaro, all the lights you name it but I didn't touch the engine??? I'm not too happy I only have 14,000 miles on her. My sales manager thinks its a bad heater core! LIFE can only get better I'm flying out to Vegas next Monday so if my camaro is out of comission yet I don't care I don't need a car???

if the heater core is indeed gone bad (have heard of this on Camaro5 before) it's a lot of work to replace it.... including removing the windshield!!!

IIRC, they need to cut it out.

My car is the test car my dealer never replaced it before?? My dealer is awesome they spent 3 hours wiring up my led mirrors, installing my eibach supension I know they can do it. If my windshield cracks I don't mind ha I have two nice rainbow size scratches from a damn rock last summer??? I know my car will be sitting there for several days I don't even know if the part is ordered. I really don't care I will be riding in taxi cabs next week and airplanes.

                  ????

Well I got good news and bad news at the dealership today.

Good news is my new heater core arrived for the camaro while I was there. I didn't even get to see my baby either. They must have it parked in a corner. It's getting installed Monday by my mechanic that does all the wiring in my camaro so I know it would be installed right. My service advisor only estimates one day to fix it. It doesn't matter to me if it's ready Tuesday I can't come pick it up I will be in Vegas till Friday night.

Bad news the lil G5 I'm currently driving has a broken part. The right control arm is bad and the bushing keeps on clunking against the wheel everytime you turn. It's kind of ironic the left side was replaced under factory warranty back in December but since the car has 42,000 miles on it now there is no warranty and it's going to cost $386 to fix. I have to drive the broken car down to Milwaukee on Sunday to get to my hotel and fly out early Monday AM. I'm hoping the car will make it on the 350 mile round trip to Milwaukee and back. Once this car goes I'm walking to work the next 3 days. I could go steal the camaro back but driving around with the smell of anti-freeze is not cool and could cause more damage.

                    Soooo Happy

I got back from Vegas at 1am when my plane landed ha! I got home around 4:30 am since the airport is only about 170 miles away from me. I slept for a few hours and I got to go pick up my camaro. I haven't gotten to touch or drive my camaro in over 12 days. It's feels sooo great that she is parked in my garage once again. The dealer detailed my car for me. I should of taken a before pic of my engine it's like a brand new car once again. They had to cut my windshield out of my camaro but everything sealed back together right with no cracks and no leaks #knock on wood#. My clock is stating 2009 for the date so I might have to fix that. I'm still getting the smell of antifreeze in my car but I'm hoping the smell should clear out very shortly. My car has been parked for over close to 2 weeks that might be a factor. I'm just happy to have her back.

My car was gone for 12 days and I was going crazy without it. Especially in the summer when I want to drive it and the weather is super nice!

I drive to the train station every day and refuse to take the camaro. I feel your pain because I only drive my car on the weekend now.
