  • Installing brembo's on my V6 this weekend

I need new pads on the V6 anyway, so I am installing my Brembos if the weather cooperates, any tips and tricks from those that have done it or are going to do it would be greatly appreciated.

My first question is, I currently have all the pads out of the calipers should I load the pads then install the calipers on the car or should I install the calipers on the car then load the pads? Which would be easier?

Also, do I need to get new pins that hold the pads to the caliper or can the originals be reused?

Thanks for the help on this and many other questions to come.

I would be surprised if the calipers share any parts.

Speaking of which what are doing with your current calipers? Interested in selling them?

If the slide pins/bolts from the brembos are clean and don't show any signs of wear, go ahead and use them. with the low mileage that's bound to be on them, no reason to get new.
as with any brake job, proper amounts of caliper grease are warrented!
not sure on which route is going to be easier on loading the pads, have yet to do a set with those calipers

You will also need to cut the dust shield with a sawzaw or air cutter of some sort.

Install them with out the pads in place. Once you get the bolts all torqued to specs then install the pads. Also, when bleeding them hook up a tube so minimal brake fluid falls on the calipers themselves. If you do, wipe immediately.

Thanks for all the info guys

Hey Pete, What are the torque specs?

Also I don't have a lift so I will be doing one a time,

can I install one then bleed that caliper, then go and install another then bleed that one and so on, or do I have to install all 4 then bleed all 4 calipers?

I'd install all first, starting with the one farthest from the master clinder (RR, LR, RF, LF) but since only doing calipers, not quite as crucial as changing a main line or the master cylinder itself.

I have always done brakes one at a time, including the bleed. Same order (RR, LR, RF, LF). I have a pump with clear tubes that I use to get all the old fluid out of the lines faster. Final bleed always from the brake pedal. Does anyone have any experience with remote bleeder valves? It would be nice not to need a second person for bleeding.

Well I am done, took me about 8 hours taking my time and few breaks,
everything seem to be fine did the bleeding one caliper at time other than my bloody knuckles and skined knees I am happy as pig in mud, they look awesome behind the polished wheels and it brakes like I have never seen before it stops on a dime.

Here are some pics with my cell phone.
