  • Sound Dampening

I have stumbled across an interesting mod idea, and would love your input. I would like to know if anybody has added sound dampening to your camaro or other cars. I think most people use it for their high end sound systems but my primary focus is to reduce ambient road/exhaust noise. In my experience the largest source of this is from the rear / trunk area. I wonder if I could get away with only a minor modification by padding the trunk/rear seat opening and maybe a trunk floor mat piece. Or perhaps It needs be a full trunk teardown and even consider panels under the driver/passenger seats and doors?

    Some brands I came across.

I have it on my Lightning, I put 2 layers of dynamat on the whole cab floor and up to rear glass on the back wall also took all the trim on the foot wells and put 2 layers there too, all I can say is that is worth it outside noise is very minimal and the sound system it's much clearer and sounds 100 times better than when it had just the stock sound deadening,

PS. I put 2 layers just because I always put the best and I am anal about my truck but one layer should be more than enough

I've seen that Dynamat is described as expensive. There are other products mentioned as being similar and cheaper: Peel & Seal, Fatmat, or Raamat.
