  • my ss hesitates !! HELP

when driving at any speed and give it a very small amount of gas my car hesitates,ok on hard accel. dealer found no codes they say it runs a little lean and because of my cold air intake they wont do nothing else . can anyone help, I dont know what to do they said if i put the old air intake on they will do more but i don't have the stock one no more ( in garbage ) and by the way it was doing this before i put the intake on. I think it has something to do with when i had the cars undercarriage rustproofed it was not doing it before but when i got the car back it was. if anyone has some ideals please let me know.

    thanks

did the dealer test drive it to see what it was doing, or just scan it? Perhaps a second dealer opinion is in order...

They wrote on the invoice that they test drove it and yes I use premium . I don't understand I would just go get it tuned ,but I don't want to void the warranty . Thanks for your help keep the good ideals comming .

Ps I just might try a new place.

when did you put the cold air intake?

if it was in the summer then I might have to agree with the dealer on this one,
we are getting colder air now and the cold air is thiner so the car as the dealer said is running lean, give it some time and the computer might make the nessesary adjustments, but if not and you are driving your car year round you might have to put the stock intake back if you are not getting a custom tune yet.

Hence the word cold air intake, it's cold outside and it's too much for the old mixture ratio to handle I think, you definitely have to get your hands on a stock intake to see for sure what's going on and then take it back in if it's still doing it. You will know for sure that way, borrow one from someone that has their car tied up with other repairs for day and see if it makes difference before you go get one to put back on for the dealer.

Ok so I put a stock air cleaner On and it did not help. So I took it back to the dealer and they said they didn't find nothing. So I complained to the boss and he had somebody come with me on a test drive . He seen what's it's doing and said that he thinks it's doing that when it goes from 6 to 8 cylinders . Has anybody felt this when driving ?? He said that it's normal, is it ?? I can't believe that !! Help

Ps thanks to rob for all the help

did they really say 6 to 8 cyl??? auto trans models go 4/8, not 6/8... you might check another dealer
