  • Lightweight Wheels/Tires

Since I'm a daily driver and apparently these P-Zeros are less than useless in the snow.. I'm looking around for wheels/tires..

I talked to some people about the TSW Nurburgings w/ Continental tires in 275/40F and 315/35R on 20x9 and 20x10 wheels. I was hoping I'd be saving weight with those wheels, but it looks like only around 10.5 pounds over stock.. I'm just not paying 2800.00 for new wheels and tires for that amount of weight.

I know I went with slightly bigger rubber, but it's only ~4lbs diff than the stock meats.. so, it's not that much more.. I was really surprised when I saw such low weight loss.. Is it really that hard to find lighter wheels for a 2SS?

The wheels/tires you are looking for are they for the winter or summer driving? just wondering bc if they are for winter driving why not just get a cheap set since they will be taking a beating anyway.

I'm not going to switch between Summer/Winter wheels and tires. I don't have the time, space or desire for that.. so, it's an all-weather tire for me... the Con DWS or something like the Yokohama Spec-X or other similar.

I'm just curious if anyone has really looked in to lighter wheels for the car? I've seen the debates about 18" fitting on the car if you don't have the roller skate weights (I don't seem to have either the flat weights nor the roller skates, so maybe 18"s would clear my calipers.. who knows)..

I'll be staying with stock SS tire sizes or maybe going to slightly larger size that's listed..

There will be a good all season tire available from Firestone next spring. I am sure other manufactures will start as well. But at least not till after the first of the year. For now the options are ultra high performance summers or snows.

So the Continental DSW or Yokohama Parada Spec-X aren't good all weather? I've never owned either, so other than reading forums and reviews, I have no personal knowledge of them and I'd be a little irritated if I sunk money in to tires or wheels and tires and still slid off the road..

Too bad I can't ding GM on being stupid and only offering a tire like the stock ones.

Too bad you don't have the space for two sets of wheels. It's kinda fun. I'm getting ready to put on my winter wheels. It's like having two cars, gives it a whole new look. Having winter tires on also was great last winter. Drove better than any car I've ever had in the snow. But you do have a faster car so could be a lot different.
I have the black heritage 18's with pirelli S/I for winter.

Yeah, where I'm at in Chicago.. it would just be too much of a pain to deal with... I have a shared garage with the Landlord's fiance's ML350 and there's just no room around the perimeter for 4 wheels and tires.. that and I just really don't want two sets of tires and wheels..

I think the Continental DWS are rated very high but no personal experience with them.

You should talk with Garrett (G-MAN) he knows his stuff and might be able to get you a better deal on winter tires than tirerack
