  • HUD in 2010 Car

Well! A guy got a 2011 HUD working in a 2010! Thread on C5. Look about 1/4 down that page for a powered-on pic!

I think that he got the easy part done, I don't think they can just cut a hole in the dash and plop the HUD in there or if they do it's not going to look right, I saw a 2011 Camaro at the dealer yesterday and the top of the dash where the HUD is it's not just a hole

Yup, the opening and 'trim' is molded into the opening. Will likely be able to get it looking clean, but it won't be exact factory look.

It's cool to see it can be done, but I'm glad mine has it already, so I don't have to do it myself!

Yeah Tony, I am in for that! I was just in the dealership bending their ear about that so as soon as this guy posts up some good final pics I think we will bring everything by Pete and get his help on the install. Lets see the final install before we all get too excited.

If it is functioning, that's the best part.

Note that he has backup sensors. We will need confirmation that this will work in older cars.

He's cut the hole and found that there are mounting provisions, just no fasteners in the holes!

Hey, if one of you is going to do the HUD install -- make it a tech session get together -- I would love to see the work done! Maybe Showstopper could do the install or something at their building... Just an idea.

Just so everyone is aware the HUD windshield is different. I do not know what they are. But when ordering a windshield for the car one of the questions they were asking is if the car had HUD or not.

Correct. Changing with windshield is optimal, but not required.
