    I would hope that he wouldn't just post a negative story, just to post it, but I could be wrong. Could the original quote/post been posed better, perhaps as a question of what those of us who have a 5th gen think of the story? Yep. However I did not see much comparison to the 4th gen, much moreso to the Mustang.

    That being said, it's obvious that it's ruffled some feathers of some founding members/mods, and he needs to make adjustments in how he posts stuff like this - should probably start by putting this type of thread in the off-topic section or something.

    anywhoo, carry on!

      I don't think this is any terribly new info. We have all heard the car is too heavy (especially with my fat ass in the driver's seat), but it somehow hangs in there with the mustang and its fancy diet.

      I know the OP has posted some intriguing things in the past, but I don't think this was all that bad. Probably not useful since we have known for over a year that dropping a couple hundred pounds would be ideal (i.e Tony get those lawn chairs and sub-box out of the trunk).

      Maybe next time if you post a story like this, put a comment at the end that the guy bashing the camaro is an idiot and doesn't deserve the opportunity to be hugged by the seat of the camaro, or to experience the wrath the camaro unleashes on the pavement.

          5th Gen Suspension -- The Book - 2011 Camaro Z28 Camaro Forum / Camaro Z28 SS Forums - Camaro5.com

          It means YOU own a bad XXX automobile. It means you own more car than you probably thought you had purchased. It means your Camaro will remain tight and solid for many years and thousands of miles. It means your Camaro will respond exceptionally well to suspension modifications because it is such a robust and stable platform. It means you can drive your 5th gen with confidence knowing that it is built by Chevrolet to exceed your expectations. It means your suspension will work as designed when driven to the limits on track or down a roughest city street.

          The 5th Gen Camaro off the showroom floor is a very good driving experience. You will notice that the ride is supple over bumps. This is due to the advanced design of the ZETA II chassis along with the very large wheel and tire package. There is substantial lean and roll, yet the 5th Gen sticks in turns. The steering is a bit softer than we would like. The SS Brembo brakes are very good, but the pedal feel not as sharp as we would like. Drive to 7/10, pushed hard the IRS has too much movement and creates rear end step out. It undermines driver confidence. Having said this, a bone stock 5th Gen Camaro blistered the Nurburing. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being a perfect car, we rate the 5th Gen a 6.5.

              Awwwwwwwwwwww it's so heartwarming to see you're happy! Have you personally called Sam Strano to inform him yet?

              Need a little hot sauce with that crow you're eating son?

                ^ No, but he did reply to the thread on this on LS1Tech, his exact quote was:

                "Ok. Great.. Hope they build it.

                But it's a concept, as the data sheet says "Part concept, part reality" and built to showcase GM's expanded line of performance parts.

                That doesn't make it an SCCA legal car, or Grand-Am legal car.... It makes it a concept car built from a Production car. Like most cars @ SEMA."

                  Sounds like old Sam is chewing on sour grapes....the reality is GM built a kick ass track car..looks like it can be done, and even more shocking, without any input from Strano. :bananen_smilies073:

                    track car or not, that spoiler kills the car. Plus, you would have to put holes in the trunk to attach it, who would ruin their 5th gen like that?

                        Looks like she's gonna coming to life?!!!:

                        2011 CHEVROLET CAMARO SSX PFADT TRACK CAR CONCEPT

                        Ever since the new Chevrolet Camaro’s launch last year, owners have explored the performance potential of the car. The Camaro SSX Track Car is a concept for transforming a street Camaro SS into a closed-course track car, and a showcase for new performance parts.

                        “The SSX concept explores taking Camaro’s excellent street performance and extending it into a road course context,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “The car expresses Camaro performance while also signaling Chevrolet’s new commitment to developing and offering a portfolio of performance parts for racing enthusiasts."

                        The Camaro SSX Track Car has a purposeful aesthetic, with exterior appointments and suspension modifications aimed at road course performance. They include carbon fiber aero parts – front splitter and adjustable rear wing – lightweight carbon fiber body panels, revised lower grille and unique brake cooling ducts. The carbon body panels significantly lower the Camaro’s weight, as does the elimination of much of the production car’s sound-deadening material, carpeting and rear seat.

                        Low-gloss Icy White Metallic exterior paint is contrasted with the carbon aero parts, door graphics/racing number and red details; and this competition-ready Camaro rolls on dedicated track wheels and tires. This concept was constructed with input from Pratt and Miller, Chevrolet partner in Corvette Racing, and Riley Technologies using parts proven in the Grand Am racing series.

                        Exterior:

                        * Icy White Metallic color with red accents and door graphics
                        * Carbon fiber hood, fenders, door and deck lid
                        * Exposed carbon fiber front splitter, rockers and adjustable rear wing
                        * Unique lower grille and brake ducts

                        Interior:

                        * Carpeting, sound deadener and rear seat deleted
                        * Ace suede-covered racing steering wheel and shifter
                        * SCCA-approved roll cage and window net
                        * Racing driver’s seat with five-point harness
                        * Racing pedals
                        * Fire suppression system
                        * Fuel cell
                        * Video camera system mounted on the roll cage

                        Performance:

                        * LS3 6.2L V-8 enhanced with Chevrolet Performance Parts’ camshaft, cylinder heads and dry-sump oiling system
                        * Production six-speed manual transmission
                        with Corvette ZR1 twin-disc clutch
                        * Low-restriction air induction and exhaust systems
                        * Four-wheel disc racing brake system with six-piston front/four-piston rear calipers and drilled and slotted rotors
                        * Modified production suspension with Pfadt licensed components
                        * 20-inch racing wheels and tires
