  • Lift for Garage

I have been wanting a lift for the garage for a long time now, a guy on LS1Tech put one of these 4 post lifts in his -- anyone have one that can share any experiences?

Greg Smith Equipment Sales Inc. - The lift professionals with quality automotive equipment at discount prices.

He modified his garage ceiling to make it work:

I'm not sure if he found a way to redo his electric garage door opener...

I've got one in my garage. Its the same as the one pictured. We also had to extend our ceiling about 2 ft so we could fit two cars. If you got questions you can pm me or ask me here.

Awesome, so you have the ProPark 8s too? (the one pictured above) How did you make your electric garage door opener work with it? Have a pic?

How do you like it, anything you don't like about yours? Thanks!

Take another look at the pic. He has the tracks and opener angled up.

I'm not sure if its one in the picture, but its looks very similar (4 posts, i don't have a pic though) . My dad got it to store his classic cars in the garage. We shortened the garage to not open all the way i think, but we have a small car up there so the garage doesn't hit it.

We really like it, we've had it for about 10 years I believe. Nothing to complain about.

That's during his modification, look at the final pics, and there is none...

FYI, the LS1Tech guy replied saying

"It's called a high lift conversion. I unfortunately had to also convert from an extension spring setup to a torsion spring setup. If you already have a torsion spring setup, then it's pretty simple. Here's a website listing how to do it and what you'll need.

High Lift Garage Door Conversion- Step-by-step instructions on how to convert your garage door from a standard lift to a high lift.

Just do a search for garage door high lift conversions."

They make 'side mount' openers that mount directly on the garage wall, and attach onto the torsion bar.

It's a crappy picture, but here it is:

Yeah, they should carry the Wayne Dalton version, which puts the motor in the middle of the door

I think I have a bigger project, since in my case it's one garage door for a two-car opening. So I would have to either make two separate doors, or do extra work up above for the bigger door... What a pain in the butt.
