    Cats or no cats?

    Looking for some input from some of you that have upgraded your exhaust.
    I've heard running no catalytic's give out a strong gassy smell at start up and even idle.
    No prob with start up but if my car reeks of gas every time I'm at a light the wife isn't going to be happy. Myself, I could care less.
    Always good to save a few bucks but if the wife isn't happy....
    Thanks for any advice that may save a marriage.

    If it reeks like gas then that person needs a better tune.

    But it is possible to get an odor with a catless exhaust. I can't remember the last car I have had Cats on. There is a small power difference on a N/A vehicle. Usually I only recommend it for someone very serious about every last bit of HP.

      You have heard ours, we have chambered 3" back from cats, love the sound and no fumes

        I have a Borla S-Type with cats, but no headers (yet). I have never noticed any gas odor from the pipes.

          I've decided on no cats. From the people I talked with that are running without cats, it's just bad when idling inside a closed garage.
          That's once a month in the winter months.
          Just means leave the garage door open and run her when the wife is gone.

            I also run w/o cats, you do get the gas smell in a garage but also you might notice it when driving and you come to a stop depending on wind direction

              I have a straight pipe from the turbo, and it smells horrible when I start it, and if someone is behind it.

                Also, no cats with FI. Otherwise, meh...

                  I am running cat less, the only time I notice the slight smell is at stop lights . Sometimes In the summer I see the prissy German car owners roll up their windows because of it.

                        I have no cats the sound is amazing n I don't get any bad smell even with the convertible down
