  • Questions on Nitrous

Okay so I've been thinking... I know I'm probably going to ride out my warranty since I just got my Camaro a couple months ago.. would a nitrous kit be detectable If I ever ran into some issues but uninstalled it before taking it to the dealer? Or should I not even think of toying with the car until after the warranty runs out? Any input would be awesome guys! Also would you guys even recommend going the nitrous route?

The kit would be completely removable. And nitrous can work well if installed and tuned correctly. That being said you should get a tune to correctly run the nitrous. I say go for it, but remember I'm the guy that voided my warranty 2 weeks after taking ownership ;-)

As my car sits now it is completely stock, should I do some support mods like cold air intake and headers prior to the nitrous? I feel like I should do headers at least...

I was talking with a few friends that have been using spray for over 15 years today about this with my car and you and I are in the same boat, they said do a 100 shot of dry and then do support mods and then switch to a 125+ of wet.

This winter I am doing H/C and plan on spraying a progressive 250 on the stock bottom end. Car is for fun anyway, if it lets go it means time to go bigger.

Its all up to your wallet. Make sure you are comfortable and have the money to replace your engine or axles or driveshaft or rear end or transmission before you go down that road. Ask yourself how important is your warranty to you. My thought is if your asking then you already know the prudent thing for you to do. If you need this car to go to work then don't do it. If the car is a toy for you and you have money to play with no regrets then go for it. There are a lot of ways to detect you have played with the car to void your warranty. taking the nitrous out and going back into the dealer is not going to cut it when they start looking around to see what caused the problem.

Hmm I see.. I think i'm just going to do headers and intake for the time being, that should bump me up a couple ponies, nitrous is tempting lol

Headers will require a tune, which will void your warranty.

As stated above, headers will require a tune as well.

You wanna go faster you're gonna risk losing the warranty. It just comes hand and hand with more power.

                    Very well said.

If you want to play and run faster than stock your going to have to pay.

The 5th gens are great and can usually handle a bunch of additional power, but even stock parts can and have failed.

The GM dealership can tell if someone has been into the computer even if reflashed back to stock.

Just buy a spare set of stock axles for $150 and use common sense.
