  • Borla S-Type Exhaust (cat back) for 2012 SS

    Hey gang,

I have decided I want to put the Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust on my 2012 SS. I am looking for recommendations as to who to have install this for me. I would like to avoid have to drive north as I live in Plainfield (southwest suburbs). Any recommendations?

I figure the parts retail for about $1200. Also looking for opinions as to what a reasonable parts & installation price would be.

Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say on this...

A full cat-back is basically plug-n-play,so, should not be too bad.

Get a couple buddies and some beers and knock it out in 30 minutes yourself. Other NicKey is down on st. Charles area which isn't too bad for you

I agree Nickey will do a great job. Plus they have awesome cars to look at. The only problem is not wanting to spend more cash while you are there.

I'd buy it and take it to a muffler shop and let them do it. I wouldnt buy it from them. Just let them do the install. I got mine from Summit Racing.

We've installed countless 5th Gen exhaust systems ranging from out of the box to full custom fabrication. We'd be happy to help, give us a call!

I have a couple of quotes for installing. $180-$200 for about 2 hours labor. Does that seem reasonable? I thinks it does.

Ordering the parts myself online, i was able to find a great deal lower than I originally expected. Essentially recouping the installation cost.

I think this is going to happen! [emoji4]

That sounds reasonable. Whoever you have do the replacement make sure they have done a convertible. The clearances are much tighter than a coupe due to the extra bracing. Nickey did my stainless works and I have had zero problems with any rubbing or knocking noises from the exhaust. Make sure they will honor any adjustments if needed and not tell you that since you did not buy it from them it is your problem.

Borla S-Type Exhaust (cat back) for 2012 SS

                        Done!

There is Nothing like the sound of those Borla S-Types! Everyone has their preference; these are mine.

I found a local custom performance exhaust shop where this is the kind of work they do all day, everyday. He had the Borla's on, straight, aligned, perfect clearance, etc... all in a little less than 2 hours.

Thanks again everyone for your feedback and advice.

Nice! I know what you mean about the Borla's. I put the S-type on mine 2+ years ago when it only had 300 miles on it. I love the sound.
                            ENJOY!
