OK, I can only imagine how many times this subject has been discussed. Is there any concrete evidence from an independent study that any after market CAI will increase the HP on a 2SS?

There's going to be both butt-dyno and and actual results, but the answer should be yes.

It's been a few years, but one of the vendors on Camaro5 did a batch of dyno tests on different intakes, the results are posted in this spreadsheet: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?...=1&output=html

It's by no means a full list of all available types, but it does give a good indication that cold air intakes can have an effect.

      Avoid the metal tubed intakes.

Haltech, Rotofab, adm race intakes are the good ones.

Looks like Cold Air Indutions is the best choice with the best gain and doesn't have to be tuned.

Yep, that seems to be the one.

The metal tube intakes really only suffer if your sitting in traffic or sitting all day at the track with the engine on. Elsewise, the air isn't going to be in the tube long enough to be affected to the point that it would cause reduced performance. Other factors would play in first.

I guess I am leaning towards the Cold Air Inductions for the thermal coated intake tube.

CAI and RotoFab are my two favorites. Can't go wrong with either one and easy to install. If you ever think of changing your hood, you might consider that in your decision. Other than that, you're good to go.

It was a tough choice between Roto-Fab and Cold Air Inductions. I agree with Freddie on that. If you are going to keep the stock hood, either is ok. If you are going with a different hood get the CAI because the Roto Fab one seals to the hood I believe.
