  • Ok folks I need you r help on this!

MY ZL1 is just over 600 hp and I have to bring it to Nickey to install cooling upgrades but after that is the car worth it to go for more power?

Drag racing for me will be just for fun but how far can I push my car before things get ridiculous? In other words if you had a ZL1 to mod how far would you take it.

Would you make it a killer? Or just have a good time with it?

Leave it alone and enjoy the warranty ! You won't use all that power too often anyway.

That what I'm leaning towards. Just a good fast car to enjoy with friends kind of thing.

It's a car, 600 HP is a ton on the street... Have fun with it and put those other so called modern muscle cars to shame!

              ill leave you with this...

All of the members on C5G that wanted to turn their cars into "killers"... where are their cars now?

what happens is you will start to run into problems and actually spend more time fixing it and dealing with issues then you get to enjoy it.

Your power level now is more then you can use on any street. Even with sticky tires it will be sketchy. Plus you dont even know how fast your car really is yet. So by spending more money and time to make it "faster" you really arent.

unless you are a track junky like me, or anticipate going to the race track once a week... there really is no point in spending all that money. you will never be able to use it or maximize it. I was making over 600whp for over 2.5 years and it took me that long to run a 10.99... So yeah, you can keep throwing money at it to make more power, but at that point what is the reason besides bragging about the power the car makes...

dont make me post a picture of my piston lol

Points are well taken fellas. I think I'll just go for having fun with the club and spend most of my time learning to drive the Z the right way.

Cabin Fever must be getting to you ; )

How many miles have you driven it since it was last in the shop? Answer: Not enough.

When you get all the HP to hook and ultimately decide you want more....we can help.

You have enough power to run 10 sec ETs and approx 200 mph top speed on a very long straight.

To think, some are happy with the a stock ZL1.

ps we have an 850hp ZL1 in the shop for upgrades. Cooling and Saftey : ) Stop by and check it out.

This is the first time I've agreed with everyone who's posted replies. Amazing and nice job all! IMO it would be quite an honor to own a ZL1 - so congrats again!

The HP you have is plenty for 99% of your driving (estimation). It's easy to fall into the trap of go faster, get more flash & zing. I know some people that are dumping huge $$ into going faster....and it's still never fast enough. Find the balance of looks, speed, and personal satisfaction. We all love the ZL1, just don't say it enough I guess.

For sure, a stock ZL1 is one fine ride. Would have been my choice had it been available when I got mine.

I got about 3,000 miles before winter hit on the Z. I'll be coming back to Nickey plenty of times for upgrades and see what we can do with the car but nothing too crazy. Just a good fast machine is my goal.

I might need to talk to you about seats though. I need a set of seats to hold me in place but we'll talk once the snow melts.

For me, the optional Recaro Seats are the cats meow! If I was buying new again, I would have those seats.
