Can I ask why you are going with shorties over long tubes?

Texas Speed and performance is who I get my long tubes from. They are 304 stainless and will run you right at 400 plus shipping. Good quality and performance.

      My 6.2

i may wrong, but i believe short tubes usually net more TQ and long tubes are more HP. Plus has as a different sound to it, more smooth like regular manifolds.

Everything I've ever seen or read about shorty headers, outside of vendor fluff, marketing BS and paid reps shows them to be pretty much a waste of money. If they make anything, it won't be much.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with shorty headers unless you're stuck on an emissions issue or are worried about needing a tune.

This too. When I say gain I dont mean much at all. The manufactures now actually make decent flowing manifolds.

I could see in the 80-90s where it would benefit more. But now I would say its not worth the money.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Just adding HFC's to stock manifolds seem to give a nice increase in power. If you were going to do shorties to stock cats, I would just do stock manifolds to HFC's.

I don't want to have to retune it. Once it is retuned the warranty is done.

Here in Indiana we have to go through emission testing every couple years.

If you want headers and are going to have a shop do it. Talk to libertyville Chevy performance center. From my understanding they work with your warranty.

Sort of. You sign a waiver that contradicts that, but if you have issues due to the work they did they will stand behind it.

Ah, I can't speak for their methods. Here they don't even look under the car. Just some kid that plugs in to the diag port.

Just don't go in to it thinking you're going to get good power from shortys though.

Also, changing out your manifolds to shortys, even without a tune can cause a dealer to deny any powertrain warranty claims. It really just depends on what's wrong and who it is, but technically, that is a modification that can cause engine problems.

yeah, from what I understand from talking with them is that they will work with the original warranty if the issue is not linked to what they did and then they warranty what they did.

Just talked to Libertyville Chevy. They told me the warranty on the engine and trans will remain. It just the parts they put on that Chevy will question the warranty. Anyway.....they quoted me $3,000 for long tube with HFC's. I was kind of shocked. Seems a little steep to me.

You can figure about 50% of that cost is parts. LTs w/ cats, depending on the make/type go from 1,200-1,800 alone. I did Doug Thorley LTs with Magnaflow HF cats which required custom welding, so I got my setup for less than 1K

I can't speak to the labor, but another part of that cost is probably tune if it's a long tube install. So, that's another 300-500
